I had not heard about the FA-1 before, did a little reading and seems that it is just a preamp. Just a preamp???!!!......, that means you may have to listen to it in order to find out what it does to your signal.
In some reviews there was talk of a "transitor sound", so perhaps some valveampusers may like that option for their amp.
This pedal makes up what some of the Taiwanese pedals lack: add this one after your Taiwanese DS-1, SD-1 or whatever, and the sound what comes out may be what Robert Keely's modds may do to the pedal.
Okay I know it is off subject, just use this as an example of a preamp which is very good at adding some "valvewarmth" to your signal. Probably best used for studio-applications.
