A buddy of mine has a AD30 I believe...its the half tube (preamp) and half solid state vox amp w/ digital effects. Anywho...he was talking to me about needing more headroom and I wasn't sure if replacing the tubes would work because it is half solid state. Could anyone shed some light on what he could do to get some more headroom??? Perhaps someone has done this succesfully already...?
there is no point in replacing the valve, the valvereactor technology is designed to work with this valve so if you change it you will most likly throw off the whole system.
I have the AD100VTXL which is currently being repaired, some tard plugged his PA into the speaker out.... well the rest go figure. I bet you figured wrong because his PA suffered no damage! and now the power amp section of my AD100 is gone!.
I'm not sure what other gear he has in his setup or what situations hes playing in. I admit mine doesn't have much headroom when playing at bedroom levels but when i take it to a gig i have plenty headroom (afterall the product manual does mension something along the lines of crank it)
I would either convince him to go with a few pedals or possibly a EQ would help in the effects loop.
Also i'm not sure if he knows this but there are two volume knobs. one of the volume knobs really drives the tube the other controls the general volume. (and the 50 and 100 models also have a 3rd volume on the back)
