Z036772? what sort of serial is that? The earliest ZAxxxxx numbers were placed on a sticker in the battery compartment. Does that mean this one is later than March 89? It's definitely not ZO36772 because that would decode to 2001 and this one is MIJ. It falls outside everything the serial number decoder is capable of decoding.

Could it be ZC? That would date it to about the right period for the blue sticker I think.

That would make more sense but it doesn't look that much like a C.
At the time of ZB and ZC Boss used labels with very small letters and larger sized numbers. Even if it really is a ZC-pedal it doesn't match the looks of other pedals from the same period.

Perhaps a bottom plate switcher?

I recently received three pedals in a batch - all with wrong bottomplates - or 1 wrong and two who should be the other way round.

Maybe someone takes off the bottom plate to attach them to a board??? And then get them mixed up while putting them back together again?

Just a thought though..
