When I tried FZ-5 the first time I liked the Fuzz Face and Octavia settings but found the Maestero setting unusable. Thin and trebly and above all no sustain, hit a note get a “pep” and then the sound dies away in a couple of seconds. I thought my FZ-5 was broken but I tested another one at a music store and that one had the same problem. Anyone at the forum got any good sound out of the Maestero setting, and if… how??? I have not tried an original Maestero, maybe they sound like shit. They were the first fuzz so that can be excused, but why should Boss use that??? There must be hundreds of fuzzes sounding better. Overall I think FZ-2 is the best Boss fuzz, closely followed by FZ-3 and FZ-5 a long way after the first two.

i agree that the FZ-2 is probably the best of the three. i also agree that the Maestro setting is quite odd. |

| I have not dug the FZ-5 myself. FZ-2 is the most of fun of them all. Lots of options with that pedal. |

I prefer the FZ-3 of the bunch. Of all the pedals released last January, the FZ-5 has gotten the least time on my pedal board. |

Hi Guys I have only heard the demos of the FZ-5 And I didn't like it....
I do have an FZ-2 -- And it sounds way better, than my other fuzz, the MXR Classic Fuzz. (Black Box silicon version)
The MXR Classic Fuzz robs me of tone big time, and it's near impossible to get the effect level, to be the same as bypass. Meaning, that it's always a few dB lower in output level.
The FZ-2 is very adjustable and has a smooth characteristic tone about it. But I will admit, I don't use it as much as I really should.
