That could have something to do with signal chain. Since I use an overdriven tube amp, I set my overdrive closest to the amp, ie as another gain stage and run my chorus and phaser in front of it. Only my delay goes in the amps loop.
I got this from Paul Gilbert, he even puts his TU-2 at the end to mute his amp, cause by the end of the song he usually has so much pedals going that it's quieter to mute everything with the tuner first and then switch off and select which pedals he's gonna need for the next song.
Since this is a pedalboard thread, here's Paul's latest incarnation:

Hey there Zerks..
I was doing a charity gig a couple of weeks back with two other bands and one of the other guitar players was lefty and his pedalboard ran opposite to yours as in the compressor and overdrives started where your delay is and the whole thing went the other way ..so even though your left handed you must be right footed...? i'm left handed and left footed in everything except playing the guitar.....nice board BTW......
I don't think it has anything to do with what foot you use. I run my chain right to left but am left footed. I never found this an issue at all. |

Good question, but i am a right footer. most of my playing i am sitting down so it's kinda funny to use my left food. the guitar is on my left leg, even when i am standing i use my right foot.I get the point about the board. most effects run right to left, look at boss pedals the input is on the right side .so it something i just got use too. i am using a bcb-60 so it's kinda hard to reverse it. |

Doh...! now i'm totally confused... of course your right about the inputs but i did notice his pedals started the opposite side which i thought strange and he had a left handed strat of couse if he wasn't using delay or reverb it wouldn't be a problem that his distortion was last..we were finishing our soundcheck and they were coming in so i was trying to get out of their way so i only got a brief look...they are a local band and were all ended up on the beer together after the gig so i'll find out..they were also very impressed with my sound and Lauries little HZD booster... |

These are the Eagles pedalboards...check out the one in the middle....if the thinking is left to right..the 1st pedal is a CH-1 two DD-3's and then a DS-1.... now i always thought that a delay going into a distortion wasn't really the way to go as from experience it sounds pretty messy... |

Here is my current setup. On the pedal tray is a CS-2, ProCo Rat, EH/Sovtek Big Muff and EH Deluxe Electric Mistress. On the floor (just in shot is Voodoo Lab Ground Control Pro to control it all and Boss FV-50 Volume pedal!

That is some setup..... I use a small rack along with my pedalboard and i have a Dynacord CLS-22 Leslie simulator in it,it's a earlier model to the CLS-222 version Gilmour used on the 'Pulse' tour back in '94..... |

I had a TU-2 and now have a TU-3 and I think it was well worth trading up. I was never that happy with the speed and the accuracy of the TU-2 and the TU-3 has fixed all that. Also having experienced the TU-2 go invisible on me in the summer outdoors the extra bright feature is a plus. My advice is to do it quick whilst TU-2 resale prices are still high.
David
p.s. that rack setup is something else Floydfandan! |
