My 4th Squier Telecaster should be on its way to me soon. I had an itchy trigger finger and some money on Paypal and picked up a Black & Chrome Squier Standard Telecaster on eBay over the weekend. I'll make sure to post pics once it arrives and I set it up properly. |

Sounds like the name of a big time poker player or cowboy... have you done much mods on the teles jack...?? i'm thinking of ripping the duncan pickups out of my silver series squier tele and putting some original fenders back in for more of a country twang... |

Other than having to replace an input jack cup on one of them, removing the original strap pins on all 3 for the DiMarzio cliplock straps, and a sticker or 2, they are all stock because they sound fine to me, but then again, I'm not all about twang, I'm more into the Sabbath-y kind of nasal sounding fuzzy stuff. |

I don't know what it is about Teles...I mean I can look at Gibsons, Schecters, and other Fenders and Squiers all day thinking, "those would be nice to have", but can always control myself with those guitars and not buy one. Telecasters, on the other hand, seem to jump out at me and say "BUY ME!", and if the price is too nice (like $123 on this one) to pass up, I get it. |

Hi Jack
It's the sexy curves... I can't resist the look of the 52's Ash Blonde & aging honey yellow clear coat.
I bought one too....

Teles are also a handy weapon against stage invaders....ask keith richards.... " the curve of the tele fits nicely around the back of the neck" according to our keef... . plus the fact that even pete townshend could't break one and gave up in disgust..... ... |

I just got home from work and school today only to find my new Tele has arrived. I haven't had time to play it yet, as I just got it out of all the bubble wrap used to ship it, and it needs to get a bit acclimated to the indoors after being outside. The guitar is in great condition, the neck is straight as hell, the action seems good, but the intonation hasn't been set...After dinner I plan on plugging it in to see how it sounds, then I'll have to restring, intonate, and give a more precise check on the action. I'm glad it arrived today though because at least I can mess around with it a bit tonight, as tomorrow night I'll be studying for an Electronic Devices class. Anyways, enough or my rambling, here are some fresh out of the box pics (please pardon my mess I am a bacehlor... ):
Fresh out of the box and bubble wrap...
 Close shot of the pickguard...
Meeting the rest of the family (not pictured because I haven't arranged all my stands for a family photo, Squier Fat Tele-Antique Burst & Hohner L-75)
Works in progress I just feel like showing off:

nice collection. interested also in your projects?
also, as regards your guitars, your a rosewood fingerboard man it seems, is this a purely visual fixation, or do you prefer the difference, if any, to maple necks?

The projects are just a DOD 440 clone with a fixed wah setting/switch. A MXR Dist + clone and a DOD 250 clone....I'll make another thread once I get those done....
As far as my fingerboards...I don't know, I just remember my very first electric guitar having a maple neck, and then I got my second with rosewood. Ever since then, I have had nothing but rosewood or dark woods, I guess I prefer the look, feel, and possibly sound of them. I say possibly because on another forum someone mentioned fingerboards are mainly for looks and don't affect sound as much as people think. So my necks are maple, but with rosewood fingerboards, but to test out this fingerboard theory, I guess I would have to try an all maple neck on the same guitar and see if there is a difference...that test isn't going to happen anytime soon cause or finances after buying this new tele.
Dr. Bob, I played it a bit last night after re-stringing and intonation, but not a full-blast test. I do like this Tele from the limited time I have had so far, but still a bit partial to the neck humbucker-single coil bridge combo.
Anyways, I need to hit the books a bit. Got a test on diodes, transistors, and opamps tomorrow....later dudes... |

Hi Jack You know - when you pass - I'm going to start asking you HARD questions
"What is the terminal air speed velocity of an unladen swallow?"
Good Luck & break a Leg - or is that really break a Keg?

hope your test went ok
i only asked as i dont really thing there is that much difference in fingerboard/sound.
my bandmate has a maple neck standard 90's usa tele, and i used to have a rosewood standard 90's usa tele. apart from different string guages there was nothing that to my ear set them apart tonally. just thought i would raise this question for some interest! |
