Hi
I posted this unfinished track a year ago. Finaly I got around to finish it. Feedback please. I do realise that I'm not the worlds best singer. Far from.

I'm not trying to sell anything, or get paid for my effort.

The track is called "Reaching" and it is on the top of my (Swedish) homepage:

www.rockstars.se

Edit: New link.

Hey Erik, I like it, I like the kinda harsh and forceful singing. It really fits the song.
The song running for the third time now somehow reminds me of Once upon the time in the west or the Deadman soundtrack. Cool. I'm keeping it in my playlist for a while.
Cheers.

@Miky: Someone also told me that it sounds like Chris Rea and Dire Straits.

@Goran: Is it because the ONLY instument I used was electric guitar, including the bell sound and the bass (except for the drums of cause)?

Hi Erik dP

"Reaching" - I like it.

I'm about to download, this video from lower down on your page:
Hel konsert frn Snvit, 2009 (575MB / 2014kb/s)

I liked the start so much I want to hear, & see the rest of the track.
Can you translate what that means?
I see you have a woman bass player in your band?

Regards Dr. Bob

The guitar sounds wonderful! Very Dire Straits-ish indeed. The voice is not bad at all! What guitar did you use to record it?

@Dr. Bob:
The webpage was initially a collection of Swedish songs from our school-band.

Later I included some videos that I made for our former drummers band, in which he plays guitar. I'm behind the camera, not playing.
I think the whole consert from the Solna pub called: "Hel konsert frn Solna Krog, 2009 (486MB / 2014kb/s)" is better than the "Snvit"-pub-concert as the camera does not shake as much.

I also made two videos:
Come here with me (57MB / 2014kb/s)

from Hard Rock Caf,

...and:
Where I don't belong (57MB / 2014kb/s)

...where most of the sound comes from their studio music which are downloadable (mp3) for free from their web-page:

www.detrop.net

They have a female bass player since a year or so.

I probably have to do my page in English. (Maybe Babelfish-translation program can help out a bit.)

@Joske Turbo:
I guess it is always strange to hear a recording of oneself.

The guitar I used was a PRS CE from the 80's. I have read that this model, favoured by Paul himself together with the American Eagle(?)-model, was called the "Fender"- or "Strat"-PRS as the sounds can be very similar to the Stratocaster. The body, pre 95, was in solid Alder with a bolt on neck. The editor of the three British guitar magazines do regard this as one of the best PRS models with its almost Strat AND Les Paul sounds. Later they made the CE line of Mahogny instead, not appreciated by some loud voices on the internet. However, PRS apparently made a few alder-ones a year ago.

I also used this one for the acoustic sounds with the AC-2. It sounded good, but I re-recorded all acoustic sounds with my Variax (set to Gibson Jumbo) as there was some click-sounds on the earlier recording (not because the Variax was that much better).

A played the PRS through a Digitech Vocalist Live 4 to get the bell-like sound.

Hi Eric, I wonder if you could take a photo or two of your PRS (I didn't find it in the Lets see your guitar thread). Btw congratulations to such an amazing guitar.

@Miky
...If I find the time. It just looks like a sunburst alder strat, but with the PRS shape. It has a tremolo I never use (the original - one piece, solid with no bolts). The locking tuners with wings. It always stays in tune. 24-frets. No birds as they were optional on CE from 93'.

I actually prefer the Variax nowadays because of all the sounds. It does not stay in tune though.

For the track I played the PRS through a VOX DA-5 practice amp using the line out. I used the delay on the VOX as well. Good amp! I have modified it with "speaker out" connection and pedals (effect on/off and TAP) and a fx-loop. I normaly use a 4*12 gray Marshall with it.

EDIT: Miky. I found some pictures of the PRS in the "photo archive 94" = "Bildarkiv 1994" high up on the web page. Our tattoos are fake.

@Miky & Joske Turbo

More info on the PRS tremolo:

Apparently the older ones were made in one piece. The new ones, as I have read, should have "stability problems" and less sustain. I probably wouldn't notice this difference.

The PRS tremolo is still made by the (as I understand it) original manufacturer: http://www.mannmadeusa.com/

"2000NOS - PRS "NOS" Vibrato Bridge

Fits Paul Reed Smith Guitars with no modifications. Six hole mount. String spacing 2-1/16" (105 mm) E-E. One piece cast bridge for authentic PRS sound, with increased tone ande sustain! Polished side walls give a smooth, confortable yet vintage look and feel. Walls also prevent any side movement of saddles, improving tuning and playability. Push-In Arm stays where you put it everytime. Bridge and Mounting Screws have hidden knife edge so that guitar returns to "Zero Position" and plays in tune. Has that smooth, silky feel that has made this bridge legendary. Individual saddles with individual height and intonation. Assembly comes complete with arm, claw and all necessary mounting hardware.

Manufactured to original specs by the original manufacturer - MannMade USA (formerly Mil-Com Industries, Inc)."

From $200 for PRS, $160 for strat.
