Hi,
I'm new to this forum. Since I have some issues with my GT-10, this seems to be THEplace to be, crawling with Boss-freaks ? ;)
Well, here goes: I tried to use the 4 cable method with the GT-10 ad several of my heads (Marshall DSL-50, Carvin Legacy). I followed the instructions concerning input/outputs and their setting (just below the volume know) on the GT-10.
Problem I have with it is that I like using the lead channels of my tube amps and boost/color them with a#65279; booster pedal. When using the 4CM the fx loop of the GT-10 allows you to add your own overdrive pedals and such before you enter the amp's preamp section, cool! Top notch felixiblity! I was thinking, however: I really noticed that the GT-10 sucked tone away in these cases... where I use a lead channel with a booster like a Boss SD-1, tubescreamer or Rat etc. I don't get the same grit, bite, crunch and punch compared to plugging the guitar straight into a booster, straight#65279; into the amp. It's just not the same. Really too bad because it annoys me, making me only us the GT-10 in the amp's fx loop for post-preamp stuff like delays, reverb, making me miss out on the compressor, distorion pedals etc.
GT-10's preamp-models are of course switched off on these patches since I'm using my own preamp.
Anyone encountered the same problem ? I hope I'm doing something wrong here.
Thanks ! |

| I use my GT-Pro straight into powered PA, so I don't have any experience with 4CM. But, have you tried different "Output Select" settings? Press that button on the main panel & dial through the choices. They all will EQ a little different. You say that you have no preamp in your patches, so I guess that means the speaker emulation is not available? I haven't played much with no preamp patches. http://www.bossgtcentral.com/forum/ is a good site for Boss GT stuff. |

Yes, I tried several output selects besides the one mentioned for 4CB. It's not only a bit different EQ, but it's comparable to dialing back the volume on the guitar when using a booster before a lead channel. In fact, the TU-2 I have has a comparable effect as well, it eats a bit of the beaf of the tone, also the reason I left it out of my signal chain before I got the GT-10.
I especially don't use the preamps and neither the cab models, because that's just something what I want to avoid. I want the sound of my amps and the Vintage30 and Greenbacks I have in my cab. I sold my Line6 pod x3 live especially for the reason I wanted to step away from modeling and the fact that fx seemed better in the GT-10.
When I use th GT-10 in the amps effect loop for reverb etc I don't have any noticeable effect. I'll check gtcentral as well, thanks for the tip. |

Hi mate, I'm not familiar with your amp but you said you're setting it by 4CM. Try first the Guitar>GTinput>GTsend>AmpInput then adjust the (GTsend level S/R block) plus adjust the guitar INPUT/PRESENCE at the System input/output icon/menu. When you attain the clean bypass sound level of your (Amp volume/tone setting)try putting the other pedals that you mentioned between GTsend and AmpInput and then play then adjust more or less to your ear (this is just using your GTsend as your output for the moment). Afterwhich you now achieve that portion of 4CM then do along with the rest which is connect AmpSend>GTreturn>GToutput>AmpReturn and adjust accordingly the GT10 panel volume knob and global Eq as you wish. Hope i did help. Enjoy your GT10 |
