Right now i have a OD-3 that im not shure about. I got it out the "to be traded in pile" that i have, its been there about 6-8 weeks in its box. BUT... when i got out the OD-3 the other day, it sounded awsome, to the extent i dont want to trade it in now.
the only thing i have to decide is wether i want it as i have a trade in impending for either a guitar or a head im after. And the OD-3 is duplication of what my MXR Distortion III already does in my rig.
Should i just keep it for my Boss pedal board that will be completed at the start of the 2009 spring when i have the time to paint it, and get the attatchment hooks for the pedals.
Does anyone else have Love-Hate relationships with pedals they own??? |

all the time......the only for sure 'keepers'i have on my board are the TR-2,CE-2 and the first DD-3 i bought about 14 years ago....eveything else goes through the love/hate relationship you talk about.......
P.S. i've learned the hard way not to sell or trade stuff as you always end up looking for it down the road...... |

PS-5 is versatile but a bit difficult to set right.
I wanted to love the FBM-1 but just couldn't find any good sound whatsoever.
I'm disappointed with RE-20 as it really sounded raspy & harsh with no clear tones but admittedly haven't given it a fair shot. In the next couple days I'm going to rip it out of my chain & run it alone between my guitar & amp. |

AC-2, got it, used it, sold it, PayPal screwed up and I still have it. After some time I tried it and kinda like it but wanted to clean it up, so I got a Sonic Stomp in the mail, hopefully that clears things up.
Right now I'm between love and hate |

| oh yes. I hate my ph-1r because of the volume boost but I love it because it sounds great, the res knob is awesome! |

Put it in a loop with a boost/cut pedal & "cut" the PH-1r boost on out of there! |

I like that PH1-r boost, it makes my bass stand out a little more with that crazy swirl of the phaser coming along.
I don't like the RES knob, I hate that flanger-esque feedback type of sound that it has, so I keep it at minimum (PH-1 setting I guess).
I have a similar thing with the HM-2, I like the sound but I don't really need it cause my Marshall amp does a better job at getting the crunch sound.
I also have an old Arion SAD-1 analog delay lying around, I love the sound but the DD-3 does a pretty goed impression on the 200ms setting so I cleaned it from my board.
Then I have an old chrome Tel Ray Morley PWB wah, you know the Cliff Burton model. And also a newer model Dual bass wah, but I hardly ever use 'em, still I'd like to keep them. |

| It isnt actually a love-hate relationship, but I still think of keeping my DS-1 since it is a legendary pedal, even if I dislike it. So, since I already have it, let me keep it so that maybe one day I find something to do with it... |

I have this all the time as well, but I think it is more realted to wanting different tones.
In a typical given day I will set up about 5 different playingscenarios, now one may be great for clean, lush reverb tones, so any delay or reverb may come in handy.
Another set-up may be where I would like two to three different overdriven sounds, so I may use a Sansamp, a BD-2 or a OD-1.
It seems to be almost impossible to create all these tones in one set-up, or it may be my own criteria for what I consider to be a good tone.
In studio land, none of this is an issue, but when it comes to gigs and preparing your set-up for playing out, it means you need to make choises about what you take with you.
Keeping it simple and straight is often the norm under these circumstances, hence my main set-up: A compressor, a BD-2, GE6 [they add so much beef to your tone] and an exhiter and the RV2. I often scrach my head what to do for phasing, chorus, and flanging-tones, so I tend to keep any of those at home. |

Just about to finish building my first "loop-mixer" to do just exactly that for my PH-1R. Will post pics when it's up and running.

i used to do this with a looper and a ge-7 but the ge-7 colors the tone of the ph-1r ever so slightly and it just doesn't sound the same, but livable if I need it for a band situation. |

Etching the circuit boards is a pain in the bum! I have a couple done now. Just need to get them loaded with components and into boxes. Shouldnt take more than about 2 more months |

| Man.. I haven't etched since '83. Can't wait to see what you've come up with. You goin' with custom paint, polished metal, or what? Like to see the circuit(s) sometime if you're so inclined, offline as necessary. Hang in there! |

Glad im not the only one who has Love/hate relationships with pedals.
The next one i have is with my CE-5 and CH-1, i just cannot decide what one is closest to my CE-2 and the one i should keep. I like the Sterile-ness of the CH-1 but dont like the fact it is a little too subtle at times for my liking, but then i like the tweakability of my CE-5, altho it does clip the front end of my amp as well, do a minus there.
I just cant decide what one to keep and what one to get rid of. The plus points of one are the minus of the other. |
