I think the reason teenagers aren't into boss pedals is price... I myself am a teenager (19, so i'm almost done) and i would really love to jump into the deep end and purchase alot of pedals (discontinued or current model...) but even with my parents paying my rent and a portion of my groceries i still barely have enough money form working at k-mart to stick a tank of petrol into my car and then have a little bit left over so that i might buy an album every now and then or go out and have a few drinks with my mates.
Don't take this as preaching, just take it as advice from someone who is living on subsistence support from the government for disability ($579 US a month). My advice would be to consider how much money you spend on drinking. I'm not calling you an alcoholic, just asking you to put it in perspective with your budget. And if you smoke, definitely stop smoking. Individuals invest thousands of U.S. dollars every year into one or the other or both. Especially the smokers. Doesn't mean that you can't hang out with your mates.
I don't smoke, i've only ever had 2 drags my entire life (and the second one was only to confirm that it was bad)... Drinking i probably do drink too much, but the last two weeks i've been down the pub without drinking, so i'm about $50 up from that. I've also only got 3 weeks of uni left, so i'm moving back home, and that will save me even more money...
So... Back on topic, by automating the process in China will it result in lower priced pedals for consumers, or just higher profits for Boss? |

I don't think the prices went down with the move from Japan to Taiwan which also saved Roland money, so I doubt that another move will make a difference. They will also have to move equipment or make/buy new equipment in China which will also cost them money. |

Let us hope that the prices for the new pedals will remain steady for a while.

I simply can't spare $250 for a new pedal,
I'm not saying that boss prices are expensive, they are very well made products, just that it's a cost i can't justify until i have a lager, more steady, income...
Hi Plush Pile Boss just dropped the cost of thier pedals here in Australia by 30% or more. So most of the pedals that were around $250, are now more like $170 I know that, that's probably still too much for a working student, but if you call, Allans Music in your state, 1300 367 123 for the cost of a local call. Ask them to send you a copy of their Spring Catalogue.
On page 17, you will find, that the Boss SD-1 & the DS-1, are selling for $79 Aust each. They are both Well sought after pedals, And new in a box with manuals.
The day before I received my copy, I payed $50 BIN & $10 postage for a used MIT SD-1 NO MANUAL. Total = $60 & 1 weeks wait. While I was still not too dissapointed with my purchase; I could have bought a new with warranty SD-1 for just $19 more.
It pays to look & ask sometimes. Also get Billy Hydes new catalogue, it has some bargains in it as well.
Try looking around & bargaining with you local "Cash Converters" or similar second hand stores, sometimes you'll find something special. But remember, thay can be real hard assed about thier prices. They tend to lower prices around the festive & holiday seasons, & when they aren't moving much stock. BARGAIN HARD, & be prepaired to walk away from the deal, as if your not really that interested.
It's just a game of psychology. & you can win, make you face known, by visiting the stores often. They tend to be a lot friendlier, when the recognize you. This works with just about any business.
Dr Bob's Psychology 101 class ......
Hope this helps you out in some way. BTW where in OZ are you, if you don't mind me asking?
