OK, I know this has been beaten to death in any number of magazines, TV shows, forums... but what I'm really asking is what is your favorite guitar solo?
Mine is Gilmour's outro on Comfortably Numb (DSOT live version).

| i'm not a big solo guy, but my two favorite solos are both by slash (and i'm not even a big G&R fan). november rain and sweet child o mine. |

I really like Robert Fripps solo on "Starless" by King Crimson even if it�s only 2-3 tones in it and it goes on for more than five minutes. He makes it interesting by the dynamics/intensity in the repeated tones. In all it�s simplicity (really it isn�t, try for yourself) it�s really heavy and impressive. By the way the end of "Starless" is one of the greatest endings of a song I�ve ever heard, the hair raises in the neck every time!
John Wetton also plays some fantastic bass on this song, it�s more like it�s he who does the soloing. |

Goran: good call on the Starless. I love that song.
My favourite solo, nothing too technical, is "Epilogue" by Opeth. It's not even really just a solo anyway.. just tons of feel and groove and soul.

I love The Cars. I wonder if left-handed musicians are any more or differently creative. Never mind he attended Berklee College of Music. |

Lines in the sand by dream theater.
Not the regular solo you would hear from mr. petrucci but it's a bit slower and with more feel so I like it and in the fast petrucci sounds...

The 2nd solo in Metallica's "To live is to die" right after the clean guitar bit halfway through always gives me the goosebumps.
Also the solo in The Unforgiven is great, as well as the solo in The Unforgiven II and Hetfields solo on "Nothing else Matters".
A lot of Slash's solo's like the ones in Welcome to the Jungle, Double talkin' jive and Give in to me with Michael Jackson.
He also played real cool renditions of the Godfather theme on the Illusions tour.
Jimi's Little wing solo is another great example.
And let's not forget the Eagles' Hotel California harmonized
solo. |

I'm really glad someone mentioned "Buck Dharma", of Blue Oyster Cult (BOC).
A truly under-rated guitarist.
Just listen to the ENTIRE live album "On Your feet or On Your knees",
recorded back in the 70's, & it still blows a lot of my friends out of the water, when I play it - (Loud).

Are you talking about the studio version or one of the live versions of Godzilla?
I recently (2 years ago) was lucky enough to get a studio remaster of "On Your feet or On Your knees"
And then stumbled on 16 BOC albums, & a Live 6-8 track video, which includes Godzilla & "Cities On Flame With Rock And Roll".
Had & really full few months listening to BOC.
But my fav. is still the "On Your feet or On Your knees" album.
Rant mode off.
More cow bell... & thank you to my friends who gave me the nice whip.
