| I get the feeling with the new DD-7 that DD-6s may be on the way out, but you can probably get some good closeout deals on them. Boss made the DD-3 & DD-6 simultaneously, plus with the 2 other non-compact pedal delays/echos, thats 4 that were being made simultaneously. Do they really need 4? I am now wondering if they'll continue producing the DD-3... |

Frankly I'm surprised the DD-3 has survived all these years. It seems everyone wants more bells and whistles instead of something more basic...which I consider the DD-3 to be more so than the DD-5 and DD-6.
Mind you, I'm glad they've kept it around...but I wouldn't be surprised if it's discontinued in the next year or two... |

| It's just too crowded to keep them all - I have to believe the DD-6 will go away. |

i think with the return of the external switch and all the other options in the DD-7 it will clearly make the DD-6 obsolete and i wouldn't be surprised if it gets the axe...i hope the DD-3 stays around though...so solid...and maybe i'm among the minority but i like the simple goodness the DD-3 offers...just my take though...

I think price point is the reason Boss has kept the DD-3 in production for so long... the DD-3 is the basic 'entry level' digital delay, but for more $ you get the added features of the DD-5 (which was discontinued for the DD-6, and now the DD-7).
I think the same reasoning explains why the CH-1 and CE-5 have both stayed in production at the same time... this doesn't explain the BF-2/BF-3 (there was very little overlap before the BF-2 was discontinued, IIRC) and the PH-2/PH-3, though. |

I like my DD-6 but I think that once the DD-7 is out there is no real reason why people would want to buy a DD-6 when you can get all the features of the DD-7. If you wanted something more basic there's the DD-3.
Time will tell! |

I tried the DD-6 a few years ago and didn't like it at all. So I went and got myself another used DD-5 instead. Don't believe the one's the better until you tried...
Best wishes,

| Hmmm, I thought I posted about the DD-6 being taken off of the big websites like GuitarCenter.com and MusiciansFriend.com but I can't find my post. Oh well, The DD-6 is on the way out, whoever wants one will have to hit up their local guitar store soon. |

| The thing I really liked about the DD-5 was that you could put another switch to tap tempo. Handy to have the tamp tempo on the DD-6 but not as quick to set up as having it separate. I can't wait to get a DD-7!!! |

The DD-3 is a very user friendly delay for me anyway.... i think a lot of players want something simple for gigging without too many bells and whistles...a lot of the top players use the DD-2/3 and the old DM series as well over the newer stuff, some players(including me) even use 2 DD-3's for different settings or cascading delays together rather than something like a DD-20.....maybe because of the big name assocation with the likes of joe walsh, satch, joe bonamassa etc.... is why boss have kept the DD-3 around for so long...and one other thing i find that the older ones are nearly analog in their sound on the repeats... |

James Dean Bradfield from the Manic Street Preachers uses two DD-3s for long& short delays |
