I have a stock CS-3 compressor that sounds more like a overdrive/distortion pedal. Anything over 25% on the sustain knob distorts until almost a fuzz pedal sound at 100% the attack control seems to have no effect either. any ideas? |

Hi nbcswjb Welcome to the forum from Australia.
Did you buy your CS-3 new or Second hand?
What type of pickups are you driving your Stock CS-3 with? Single - Humbucker? Passive - Active?
Does it still happen if you lower the volume on your guitar?

Hi, and thanks.
The pedal was new and then I modded with various things like the caps and diodes. However I have replaced everything with the original components. The only thing inthere now are some higher quality caps (stock value) like the ones monte alums sells for quieting and a different color indicator LED.
The distortion happens with all my passive single coil and humbucker guitars. Lowering the guitar volume does lower the distortion. also it seems as though increasing any or all of the tone, attack, and sustain settings increases the distortion. It's like I have three gain controls instead of tone, attack etc.
I'm pretty confident in my soldering/desoldering and have double checked my values and solder joints. no bad or lifted traces etc.
I'm wondering if I just fried a chip or something.

Hi nbcswjb Yes; It sounds like something went wrong during the Reverse-Mod.

No, the reverse mod was done trying to track down the problem. But heck, maybe I stumbled on the latest craze. Bill's CS-3 high gain distorto-plex
soon all of the mod gods will be lining up to discover the secrets of this one! |

Got it. misread C8 (4.7uf) and stuck a 47nf in there by mistake. all better now. |
