I just did the mod... I like it a lot. Sounds a lot like the 74 script reissue on youtube.

I've compared the reissue to the standard block.. there is a big difference. I loved the reissue.. but I'd REALLY like an original script 90.. (do I really need to start another branch on the collection tree??)

Yeah... I hear you!

I've been picking up current MXR pedals when they are cheap. I have a Phase 90, Smart Gate, Distortion +, and a Carbon Copy. Nothing old yet though. I'll grab it if it comes up cheap, but wont be seeking it out like I do the old Boss stuff.

The script mod is actually pretty nice. The pedal is really fussy where it goes in the chain though. I ended up having to put it in the loop of one of my loop-mixers to isolate it from the rest of the chain. It was like that before I did the mod though, and if what I've read is right, the Phase 90 is just a fussy pedal. That's probably because it uses an op-amp as the input buffer rather than a FET or BJT.

Been playing with it some more. I think I'll add the 1M trimpot to adjust the depth as suggested. It's very nice but maybe a bit too deep. Will post here once I have it done.

I added a pot to control the "depth" this weekend. Changed out R20 for a 470k resistor in series with a 500k pot mounted in the case (see below - actually the pot is a 1M pot in parallel with a 1M resistor becaue I didn't have a 500k pot). It's not really a "depth" control - sounds like a combination of width and depth - but it does give some interesting control, and interestingly the best sound is at about 750k (the original resistor value).

Even more interesting, turning the pot while playing sounds awesome - kinda wishing I could hook up an expression pedal to do that!

Hi Laurie

Nice & neat mod; I guess you used a Lin. pot?

BTW that pot looks awfully familiar,
I think I have some it's brothers.

Regards Dr. Bob
