Im my local badminton-club, people are called by their last name or a derivative of their last name. (Don't really know where this habbit came from) Thus, "Van Britsom" --> Britsie. It's handy that it is a word that doesn't excist and therefore it is seldome used on internet. On most of the forums I visit, I am called Britsie. Makes things easy for me. |

my screen name came from dealing with G.A.S.* while living off ramen noodles and 2-liters of generic cola, when I was in grad school. the vast majority of all of my musical gear was bought used, with nothing costing over $500. no complaints, mind you, but if you gravitate towards used pawnshop trash guitars, amps, and pedals, you end up emphasizing quantity rather than quality. (e.g., I have a 'Less' Paul, but not a real Les Paul.)
*Gear Acquistition Syndrome (a condition first described in Guitar Player magazine, in the early '90s, IIRC) |

mine come from Lovecraft's horror stories...
In the 30's, Lovecraft was a friend of Robert Howard, the creator of "Conan the Barbarian". BNoth were published by Weird Tales Magazine.
In one of Howard's novel, there was a doom book of spells called "Unspeakable Cults", suppose to be written by a guy named Von Richten.
The game between the authors of the Wierd Tales Magazine was : "I see something good in another author's tale, I stole it, like a tribute to my friend"... and Lovecraft took the "Unspeakable Cults" and translate in german like this : "Unaussprechlichen Kulten".
And I like this name.
I can't speak german, but someone said that there was an error : you must say "Unaussprechliche" without the final "n".
When I choose a knickname for electronic music, I choose : "UNAUSSPRECHLICHE KULTEN", but in the forums I just use "Kulten". |

Mine's just an anagram of guitar, don't know why I chose it, I think I'd seen someone mis-spell 'guitar' somewhere and I thought it would make a good forum name. For a supposed 'guitar rat' I actually haven't been playing too much guitar recently - I'll have to get back to practicing.
My first choice for a name was 'DF-1', I thought it would be a clever play on my initials, plus relate to the DF-2 Boss pedal. Then I realised every time I posted people would think I'd discovered a rare pedal, so I ditched the idea |

From the name of my former band, The Redundants (which was still in existence when I registered) & as we can't change our screen names, I'm stuck with it.
Better story: the new band, The Blairs http://www.myspace.com/theblairsband, is named after Eric Arthur Blair (aka George Orwell). |
