| Every band needs a Transit. I keep spotting a big blue one outside our rehearsal studio and everytime I do I think to myself "wouldn't it be nice for my band?" |

I know it's a extra expense but the altenative of dragging a full PA,drums,my backline, bass rig,lights,monitors...etc into 4 cars just isn't worth the hassle plus the sale of the last van plus a bit we have saved from gigs has offset the cost.. ....i got it for 2250 in the end from 2500 so wasn't too bad....it has a crewcab so we can carry six people legally with seatbelts plus the gear in the back partioned off from the crewcab...the days of sitting on amps going to gigs or worse after a hard gig having to get in the back with a long trip in front of you home with possibility of one of the drummers toms or some other piece of equipment flying down and cracking you on the head just wasn't appealing to us anymore....must be getting old...or sense..... ......
P.S...Mansun..... as someone in pink floyd once said...they knew they were a real band when they got their own Ford Transit... ...with the building industry gone as bad as it has(i think from the looking at the news that spain is as bad as ireland at the mo) there are real bargains to be got, especially with crewcabs,as the extra seats aren't of use to everyone looking for a van..between the members of a band it can work out cheap enough..that is of course you can get everyone to agree... ..... |

Nice van Franz'
A couple of years ago another band I know had some very old Mercedes van and they painted their website across the sides in huge white paint, it sure attracted a lot of attention
And another band I know uses an old firetruck for band van

Hi Dirk...
Funny you should menttion the firetruck as i wanted to guys to consider an old ambulance that was for sale to attract attention... ...i also looked at an old 1996 Ford Granada funeral hearse but the guys were a big uneasy about that and told me i was nuts.... ..personally i think the firetruck is a great idea.... but have to say our drummer took the van off earlier and cleaned and polished it inside and out and she looks really great.... |

I think I speak on behalf of every forum member when I ask you pictures of that beauty as soon as you lay your hands on it: interiors, etc.
Oh, and about the OT of the construction market in Spain, yes it's really worrying to be honest; but it's worse to learn that's what based a great percentage of our economy in general. Now that we're starting to do gigs maybe I can talk to the guys about the idea, but I think I already know the answer |

No problemo..i'll bring my camera..we have it but we can't drive it yet until we MOT and tax it for on the road use...sort of an unusual colour for a transit..not your normal navy blue when it's in daylight it sort of reflects as a purple/blue colour.... |

Hi Franz
That's a high quality vehicle mate - a Tranny with a big side window - must be the Ghia version - rock and roll luxury
I can't see from the picture but is that the one with 4 wheels on the back end? I used to be in the glass trade doing a summer job & drive one of those with a bloody great glass rack hanging off one side. Trouble was the firm's brand colour was pink and we used to borrow it to get us to gigs with the kit in the early days - made a big impression - not that I'm suggesting that you paint yours pink
I'm sure that beauty is going to have many stories to tell in a couple of years

Hi Kev(the_Doc)
Now you have made me think as i didn't know that their was a Ghia version in Transits...she is the T350 rear wheel drive model and she is a 00 reg but a mate of mine has a 06 T350 and ours is every bit as clean with the paint and the bodywork/interior...plus the glass in one of the wing mirrors had a crack in it and when we got a replacement the guy in the moter parts shop said he had never seen a 00 with the 'new shape' body and that colour before...this is my 3rd transit for the band and my 5th(i had two transit connects when i worked construction, great little van)overall....and this one feels the most solid and i have a good feeling about it...touch wood... the last one was a 01 reg FWD and was a heap of shit... she was probably a bit under powered for us ,but at the time she was all we could get for the money...
A pink Transit.... ......now thats something i would of liked to see... ....... |
