Anybody got an Alesis Nanoverb? I just got one that needed a solder joint repaired to make it go. The rotary sim is really why I wanted to check it out. I like the sound of the sim, but it has a lot of compression with it. It's O.K. for light single note stuff, but for rythym work it's really squishy. Are they all like this, or is this one a dud? The other effects don't have this compression.
Grace and peace,
Steve

Never mind. It's a stereo device. The rotary sim is in stereo. I hooked it up to only 1 amp, so it was panning back & forth between channels but I could only hear one of them. Hooked it up tonight to 2 amps - sounds great! Doh!

hey steve! the grace and peace of the lord be with you and me i was a guitarist for35 years till a stroke5 years ago froze my left arm and hand into a fist thing so i've n\been fooling with my yamaha keyboard one handed and dug out one of my old nanoverbs to usefor recording just as you describe i really like the stereo rotary sim and to me it's mind blowing that alesis never made an outboard controller for the speed /adsjust knob. so dig this idea. if i repeat it's because this next bit is a notepad doc. i saved to mail to tech guys I AM AN OWNER OF THE ALESIS NANOVERB 18 BIT DIGITAL EFFECTS PROCESSOR,WHICH HAS A WONDERFUL STEREO ROTARY SPEAKER EFFECT THAT I USE WIT THE GREAT HUGE ORGAN VOICES ON MY YAMAHA KEYBOARD. BUT UNFORTUNATELY THEY NEVER MADE ANY WAY TO CONTROL THE SPEED OF THE ROTARY EFFECT(LIKE YOU WOULD VIA THE BLACK MOTOR SWIOTCH USUALLY FOUND NEAR THE BOTTOM KEYBOARD OF A HAMMOD B-3 OR C-3 THAT YOU SEE GUYS FLIPPING BACK AND FORTH DURING SOLO ORGAN PASSAGES)OTHER THAN THE ADJUST KNOB ON THE FRONT OF THE NANOVERB. WHICHIF YOU'RE LEFT ONEHANDED BY A STROKE LIKE ME IS IMPOSSIBLE TO MANIPULATE AT THE SAME TIME AS PLAYING ONE HANDED SO I OPENED UP THE NANOVERB AND MY OLD DUNLOP WQAH WAH PEDAL. IT LOOKS TO ME LIKE I COULD REMOVE THE ADJUST/EDIT POT FROM THE CIRCUIT BOARD AND INSERT IT INTO MY WAH WAH PEDAL WHERE THE POT FOR THAT DEVICE NOW SITS AND RUN WIRES FROM THEAPPROPRIATE LUGS ON THE NANOVERB POT NOW IN THE PEDAL BACK TO THE CIRCUIT BOARD AND THUS CONTROLLING THE ROTATION OF THE ADJUST POT VIA THE PEDAL AND THEREBY CONTROLLING THE SPEED OF THE ROTARY EFFECT SPIN. MAKE SENSE?
AND DON'T WORRY, MY NANO HAS LONG BEEN OUT OF WARRANTY AND HAVING BEEN A GUITAR BUILDER I AM AN EXPERIENCED SOLDERING TINKERER.
god bless!! billy |

Welcome to the forum billy.... sorry to hear about your stroke but i'm glad to see your still positive and playing music.. ..i use a dynacord CLS22 on guitar for rotary effects..it has a switch on the front as well as a footswitch on the back for the speeds so i'm able to use a old marshall 2 way footswitch with a stereo jack..one switch does on/off and the other fast/slow.... i really like the dynacord because it ramps up and down like real leslie and even when you turn the effect of you can hear the 'rotor' slowing down to stop.....i love the fast speed it reminds me of dave gilmours guitar sound on some of the early Floyd stuff...... |

I once owned a Nanoverb, but I don't recall a lot of compression on any of the effects.
I can't even for the life of me, remember the sound of the rotary cause I used it mostly for reverbs. I do remember the flanger effect creating these crazy, loud and annoying volume spikes.
Now I almost regret selling it. |

<interject off topic> Life lesson #1 - hold on to your gear! What is useless, expendable, or becomes a segway to your next mode, becomes a hollow hole once it is realized as gone. Preachy, but all too often true. Often, years later.</interject off topic> Hold on to your , T-D |
