I haven't played a Keeley, but that whole concentric-pot thing seems a bit much to me. My suggestion is buy a used one, and change the resistor to fix the volume problem. I modded mine for a barely-noticeable volume boost.
No i wouldn't think so.. not an extra 60 bucks for changing a handful of components maybe some pedals can gain from a mod like the DS-1 and the amount of treble on tap or the CS-3 mod,i've also read reports of people expecting big things after the monte allums or keeley mods and being disappointed but keeley isn't doing this for your pleasure, this is a sales pitch as much as anything to make you spend your hard earned $$$.....the volume cut thing was sorted a good while back by reading previous threads on the forum...i use a stock TR-2 and it's a great pedal...not noisy or anything like that so i don't know how much he could improve it...also ask youself the question..how much will you use the TR-2 in your day to day playing..?.i use mine on about four or five songs for a bit in each ...tops...!!..if you want a real 'boutique' tremolo look at something like the Demeter Tremulator..that what Gilmour,Sonny Landreth etc use........Clapton used a stock TR-2 maybe still does i'm not sure.....
well i had one of the orginal tr2. I really didn't like the volume drop on the pedal. so i had keeley mod mine. they add a few caps sounds a bit brighter. and there is no volume drop now. but the pedal is noisy now.So i went from a wonderful warm tremlo. to a sterle bright sounding pedal
