Hi Everybody!
I recently dug out my old BF-2 (MIT) which I haven't used for about 8 years or so. For some reason it doesn't sound like how I remember it. It seems alot more subtle, actualy quite weak. I've listened to a few demos on youtube and mine just seems different. Is it possible that it has changed or is it my imagination?
Also, Does anyone know what each of the 3 trim pots are for? Could these be the key to restoring my BF-2 to its former state?
My BF-2 has lost its balls. Does anyone know why?
Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

it sure sounds like something has changed -- the BF-2 is definitely not a subtle flanger -- but I wouldn't mess with the trim pots. does a new battery help? (or does it sound better with its proper AC power supply?)
if not, perhaps the filter caps dried out, or there is a more serious problem. in that case, hopefully one of the more technically-brilliant bossarea forum members (Dr. Bob and Laurie, your ears should be burning) will also respond to this thread. |

Was thinking the same, change out the caps in the tone path for the same values. Either the electros or if you want to go the 'hi-fi' route, use metal film caps |

If you have changed the trim pots this may explain the subtleness. I wrote a guide a while back how to calibrate BF-2 in its original state:

While you are at it, I would definitely upgrade the 1uF electrolytic capacitors to higher quality ones like Panasonic metal films. |

Thank you! I followed your guide and it seems to be working fine now. I didn't change the capicitors just adjusted the pots. Took me ages but it was worth it. (Strange but I don't remember ever adjusting the pots)
anyway Thanks again |
