Hello everybody.
My first experience was a me5 back since 1994 when I started playing guitar. Then I play on a Me6. Thougt that was enough. But started in a new band and discovered that my sound doesent reach out. So I started to collect boss stamp pedals and every day look on this side to get som good advice from someone around the planet. Now I have 10 boss pedals and looking for more. How about you out there? Faltarn

1978. Sitting in the "stinky teenagers sit here" pit upstairs at a music store in Bundaberg in Australia belting out Smoke on the Water (beneath a sign that said "anyone who plays Smoke on the Water will be asked to leave"). I think it was a PH-1.

I'd always known BOSS were a reliable brand of pedal, but I didn't get one until 1999 maybe.. it was the ubiquitous MT-2. I used it in my band, but later traded it for something (maybe even the Zoom Tri-metal).

But then, I came across a CE-2 and NF-1 in 2004 ($25 each). The actual "Love" began there.

I started playing guitar in '87, and soon after I got four Boss pedals, all in one shot from a local guy that was getting rid of a bunch of stuff..And these were my first pedals ever:

DS-1 (distortion)
CE-2 (Chorus)
DD-3 (Digital Delay)
BF-2 (Flanger)

The Flanger and Chorus got very little use and I resold them shortly after..

my first 2 boss pedals were an HM-3 and FZ-2 and i didn't like either of em (got em in 1994).

my first boss pedal i really loved was a silver screw CE-2 i got in 1997. the next pedal i really loved was my TU-2 i got in like 2000. third was an OD-1 i got this spring, followed by my freak MIJ DS-1 w/ the scorched diode.

i like collecting em more than i like the sound of most of em hehe. the reason i go with all boss pedals is because i have severe obsessive compulsive disorder and am moderately anal retentive and all my pedals have to be the same brand/shape/size or i get all spastic and start losing sleep over it.

I really don't know exactly when or how, but I do know that it was very subliminal. I remember owning a couple of Boss pedals and then finding out that my musical hero (Robert Smith) uses mainly all Boss pedals. From then on I became engulfed in yet another compulsive collection fetish. [Kinky]

My very first Boss pedal was a CE-2 that I bought from Denmark Street in London, around the late 70's and I still have it. Chorus was a newish thing back then and I'd just used mainly loud & dirty distortions (Top Gear Fuzz, Big Muff and a Kay fuzz pedal) - although there was also Colorsound Sustain where I tweaked the internal pot to make it distort to hell as well (still does - never changed it back!)

I was in a very psychedelic, hippy, trippy band back then and I remember the CE-2 rate knob was always set to nausea inducing fast! I liked chorus so much that I ended up buying a Yamaha SPX90II for recording too - I still rate the 'Symphonic' preset on that thing!

Early '80's got a DM-2 in odd circumstances (again, I still have it). A mate (Terry the 'Flying Pig' - long story...) was really into heavy dub reggae and bought the DM-2 because he thought he would be able to plug it straight into his hi-fi and add huge echoes to his dub vinyl collection. He never got it to work (stereo/mono, RCA – jack, etc, etc), so gave it to me (the only guitarist he knew), for a few quid.

Here’s a photo of both them – still in good nick…

I had a big fall-out with effects pedals in the 90’s (I got all racked up instead - a nightmare - shouldn't have done it), and got back into them, big time, in the 00’s. The rest is history....I once again have a serious addiction to all things pedal shaped that make a noise
