So, I recently bought the pedal (pictured below), and noticed the following: the DS-1 notes on this site suggest that "the D in DS-1 ended up under the i in Distortion around serial number 13xx00", whereas this pedal has a serial number of 142300. Interesting!

wow. super clean DS-1 very nice!
and its also no secret that Boss' serial numbers arent always accurate. some as far as a couple of years off. |

I'm not sure I've ever seen a silver screw DS-1 this clean before, so I jumped on it. A bit pricey ($169 + shipping) but... It's pretty. :D
I didn't realise the serial numbers were sometimes that skewed - how curious! Thanks. |

looks brand new...spotless.....well done enjoy...i used a M.I.J DS1 for many years as my crunch pedal and i'd never sell it...get a bad rep sometimes but lots of the big boys use them....... |

Very nice ds-1 indeed.
I was wondering if the box is old or new style ? I think new style looking at the pics. The old style have cresents cut out at the sides but that is hard to see in the pics.
'till now I thought all ss pedals came in old style boxes. |

It's not so surpising to see a 14xxxx DS-1 with long dash but seeing it with silver screw is really surpising. I would of thought those were all gone over a year after the first pedals with black screws was made.

if the box has the two little half circle cutouts on the side, that might be an indication that its authentic Silver Screw...or it could indicate that the box is silver screw
its hard to say really. the 1/4 jacks are long, indicating post Silver Screw and theres no washers on the screws holding the top on. the serial says January 82. hmm i dont know if ive seen a Silver Screw pedal with a sticker type serial. i think the only ones ive seen had the stamped serial number.
to me it seems that its originally a black screw with a swapped screw, but nonetheless, its a 82 DS-1 in mint shape with box and thats pretty valuable on its own |

Mines from June '88, and fits in compact pedal and looks convincing enough.
Guess they still had some extra silver screws kicking around
