Hey everyone, I'm new to the board and looking forward to hanging out!
I have a DR-880 and like it, but I can't seem to figure out how to control it with my midi foot controller. All I really want to do is to start/stop and maybe change the preset (step up or down). Midi on the DR-770 was much easier - I can't figure it out at all in the 880. I'm not that familiar with midi - so it's challenging at best. If anyone has any insight, I would be grateful indeed!
Cheers, Dan |

Hi MrDano
Welcome to the forum from Australia.
MIDI can be a bit of a Tech's nightmare. You will have to get out the manuals for both the Foot Controller, & the DR-880.
Then you will have to map the functions in the DR-880 to the floor switches on the controller. But fist of all yo will have to find out what MIDI channel the DR-880 accepts it's controller messages on, & over what 0-127 range value. There are 16 MIDI channels numbered 1 to 16.
You have some reading to do, if you know any older keyboard players, some of those guys Are switched on, when it comes to talking about MIDI.
Or simpler take it to the music store you got it from, & ask them to help you out.
Regards Dr. Bob |

Thanks all for the welcome and the advice Dr.Bob. The problem with the manual (or the way I'm reading it) is that it doesn't give me the CC mapping for the different commands. But maybe my local music store can help...
Again - thanks for the help! |
