exactly. a few bucks, i get it. and i don't care. but this is extreme greed and he's risking his ebay membership for a few dollars.

The bottom line to avoid that sort of issue is to make sure to thoroughly read everything in the auction prior to bidding.
I learned that the hard way. A while back I thought I was buying a rare 45 record with picture sleeve. I didn't read the auction copy well enough at the time. After I won the auction I realized I only won the picture sleeve itself! Imagine my "self-embarrassment"(fortunately I live alone)! I had to go back online and find a copy of the record itself, but it taught me a lesson: Make sure you know all the conditions of the auction prior to bidding. Saves yourself a little headache later on. |

HA! this guy is trying to 'get around' paying final value fee! eBay will ban this cat with their new shipping priing policies. good riddance. |

You are right... there is NO option in ebay no matter what the feedback is, how many transactions, what other people have said about the guy, ALWAYS ASK!!!
I bought a $500 pedal, guy had great feedback, on ebay 10 years, specializes in selling what I bought.
Description said "good working example"
I trusted his reputation, trust he was fully disclosing, trusted that he was a good ebayer. paid the $500.
listing did NOT say 1) pedal does not move smoothly (because of 2 and 3 below) 2) pedal mounts were worn out 3) someone tried to "fix" the pedal mounts by 'overtightening' the pedal mounts thus destroying the 'hard to find' nylon bushings and the screws themselves.
Of course, i discovered these things AFTER i had left feedback because it worked fine when I tested it the day I got it (basically is it DOA or not test), but did NOT take the time to INSPECT, WORK iT, Check it thoroughly.
Always Always Always ask questions. - ever tampered with? - does it work perfectly - can you guarantee not DOA - has it ever been repaired - does it need repaired - is it all original
If you DON'T ask, and then buy it, you can't return it, can't get buyer protection to help you are screwed.
with 100% feedback, HE NEVER REPLIED TO MY COMPLAINT emails.
DAMNIT Its best to JUST ASK. |

| I buy and sell alot of pedals on ebay, one cause i like to look and two it's basically free money for me. i know what most stuff goes for so if i can get it cheap and make a profit on it, it's good for me.I mean everyone pads the shipping a little either buy saying the package weighs more or just putting in shipping charges. ebay is getting really bad with the fees. I am almost paying up to 18% on the sales of most pedals including paypal fees.I mean it seems wrong but you are still getting a hr-2 for 170, just ebay is losing out in the deal |

A few years ago, a guy listed "The Xbox 360 picture below" and started the auction at $399.00 when the auction was over he sent the lucky winners the same picture of the Xbox 360 he used in the listing. The winners thought they were getting the Xbox 360 "pictured" in the auction. Instead, they got the "picture." |

Zerksies, I'm with you on the ebay fees getting out of hand. They have made it easier to list by offering no listing fees, but they have "promotiosn" where if you take advantage of the free listing, they ding you 8.75% final value fees. It doesn't take a genius to figure the multiplier they get here, way more listing, and then a higher chunk of the sale price. I got blindsided on this on an ipod I sold (margins are thin on iPods) and it forced me to really payattention.
I am leaning more to craigslist and Kijiji now for more expensive items.
ebay is GREAT for taking a pawnshop find (.i. MIJ boss pedal) as most any can often be found for under $50 cash and most go for more than $75 on ebay, and we get the bonus of selling on the US exchange which can be a further 10-15% for us Canadians! |

That's exactly what I meant. If he's busted by ebay - that's not my problem. |
