I have 4 dead Boss pedals: CE-3, DSD-2, HM-2 and SD-1. I had them in a BCB-6 box and a cat piddled in the box, shorting out (I presume) and rusting the power connectors and bottom of the units (screws, bottom plate). There is no power and no sound coming from any unit.
Don't worry, the cat came to no harm, but I want to know if there is a possible fix for these pedals. I have minimal electrical skills -- I would recognize a solder gun if someone stabbed me with it, but that's about it.
If a fix requires more expertise than I have I am willing to sell them cheap. I don't know if this kind of problem is something an electrician could fix easily so I don't know what they would be worth. |

| Have you tried connecting the pedals using a battery? Something could have gone wrong inside the pedals but I'd be surpised if all 4 broke. The adaptor itself could be broken or the corrotion on the adapter jacks could cause it to fail. Testing with a battery would tell you if the pedals themselves are broken. |

| Bossarea, thanks for the suggestion. With a battery, the CE-2 worked perfect, the HM-2 also sounded perfect except it would not power off sometimes when I hit the pedal. The DSD-2 and SD-1 both produced the sound I expected, but very quietly. Perhaps a dead battery? It seems the electronics are ok, just the power connections were corroded. Are these pedals worth fixing? |

Sounds like corrosion is the problem. Possibly you can fix it with some contact spray on the jack sockets and switches. Did you get full light from the LED on the DSD-2 and SD-1? If the battery is low on power, the LED will not light up completely. Having a professional look at the pedals will quickly run up the costs so they're usually only worth fixing if you can do it yourself or has a mate that can do it cheap. |
