Anybody has theories about which one of all Boss compacts is the hardest to find, without considering the price? In other words, the rarest of them all.
I have heard DSD-2, DSD-3 and GE-6 mentioned.
Of course SG-1, SP-1 and VB-2 goes for big money but that doesn�t automatically tell that they are the most rare ones.
We could also discuss rarity by mentioning silver screw DM-2 (if they excist), black screw SG-1, DF-2 Super Distortion Feedbacker etc, variations of pedals.

you'd prob hav to think about the time since they were produced aswell. there's prob a lot more PW-2 and XT-2 around than say SP-1 because they're a more recent pedal even tho they had a short production life. less of them hav possibly broken or been lost in attics etc.
do you count the 2 versions of the DD-3 as 2 pedals? |

from searching ebay, ive found these to be hardest to find. some of these dont even sell for that much.

I think the Digital Space-D deserves a mention. They probably made afair share of them but unless you go to Japan (or live there already) it is very difficult to get hold of.
The OD-1A and OD-1B are both rare and sought after. I can't recall having seen more than a handful over the last 3 years.

| I am surprised that SD-2 is so rare, in my opinion it really is, I have seen only 2-3 over the last years here in Sweden. Why? It�s relatively new and manufactured for quiet a while and it is foremost a very good overdrive. Compare with PW-2 or XT-2, I�ve seen more of those, and they where manufactured for a very short period. And none of them sounds very good to my ears, well maybe PW-2� |

First, I am surprised by HOW MANY DD-2s are still out there! but, in line with the topic ...
Overall, thinking about eBay for the last 6 months, I would say in order of limited availablilty
GE-6
TW-1 with TouchWah spelled out
DSD-2 only seen one or two with box, most in good shape
DSD-3
PH-1 and PH-1r ( I am dying to find one of these for $50!! hahaha) But these kinda come in waves (the phasers that is) |

Hehehe... I have a great LOOKING PH-1... that's all I've got to say about that...
As far as rarity, I don't do the eBay searches as often as I should anymore, but whenever I do, I can never find a VB-2. That and an RV-2. |

And I agree with Goran that the SD-2 is also hard to come by

| I would say DSD-3. I definitely remember seeing many more auctions for DSD-2. PQ-4, SP-1, and GE-6 don't come around too often either. Some of the first bass pedals in brown (PQ-3B) are kind of hard to find. |

| I agree with what has been said earlier. I think GE-6 is seldom seen, and I am still searching for one to my collection. The DSD-series are also hard to come by. I have a DSD-3, but it is far from mint condition. And of course OD-1 A-version with 14 pin chip is a rare beast. |

| I think the very early BF-2 with pink paintwork had got to be the rarest boss pedal. There's a picture of one on page 16 of the Boss Book and I'm sure I saw one on eBay last year but there doesn't seem to be much talk of them. |

I've thought I've seen a pink BF-2 a few times but if the pictures are just a little over exposed the result becomes pink.
There may be some of them out there. The Boss engineers weren't sure if any was sold but if one ever pops up it will definitely be a rarity. |

Digital Space D DC-3, made for the Japan market, is sold quite often by japaneseproducts on eBay, quite a few times, it comes with instructions in Japanese only, so that's gotta be a bit of a weird one!
I just pulled out my trusty Boss pockect ditionary Volume 1. and it seems that all the pedals in there are quite common, seems some of the newer variants and the original are hardest to get. interesting topic
