| I think there's phaser used in U2's Mysterious Ways too... I found a very convincent setting... I think this phaser (PH-2)is not subtle at all... I find also that what sounds good clean, sounds like crap with distortion.. Mode II is more on the funky sound, but I find myself using mode I almost always, since mode II makes the effect too pronounced. I like using it for playing the intro of money, and it's very useful for playing the sax solo with the guitar.. Any more opinions? Do you think it's used for U2's Numb? I found a similar but not exact setting with the PH-2 |

Hi midibuddy,
I think The Edge uses a "Lovetone Doppleganger Twin Phaser/Vibrato" for his phaser sound. Could be wrong though. |

| Thanks for all your replies! .. What famous players use the PH-2 on their setup? Who else here uses it, and what settings have you found for popular songs? |

I just used it tonight live, it was THE PEDAL for playing Depeche Mode "Enjoy the Silence", in mode II, with a long delay with lots of feedback... very synthy!.. I used it in mode I for The Police "So Lonely" (because I don't have a flanger), in combination with a CH-1 in a deep setting.. excellent too! I'm just very happy since it worked so well and wanted to share... this pedal is a keeper, next week I'll be putting velcro under it to put it permanently in my pedalboard... it's a keeper! |

the most famous user of the PH-2 is prob mike einziger of incubus. he has 2 of them in his pedal chain.
have a look on www.guitargeek.com and it shows who else uses them.
oh and by the way, if you get a comb filtering effect from delays and flangers can you do it with phasers? |

| I'm not very familiar with what the phaser or flanger do actually... maybe some people here can help us with the "theory" behind those 2 particular pedals... I understand tremolo, vibrato, delay, and chorus modulation FX, but I'm lost in phasers and flangers... |

| The major difference between flanger and chorus is in the delay time. A flanger is usually between 3-12ms, whereas a chorus between 10-30ms. Flanger you often get more control - feedback/res and manual. A phaser makes use of a comb filter to achieve the effect. It's not a delay-based effect in the sense that a flanger or chorus is (which is why the latter two often use the same BBD chips as analog delays). |
