Okay. Got it now. That explains the "trash can" sticker on a new BD-2 I bought recently as a backup.
Here's a possible scenario: New Boss pedal mods available. New pedal is completely desoldered and then reassemble using NOS Military grade lead-based solder. Now your new Boss pedal can sound like one that was made in 2005!
The annoying part is that the big R stickers seem to appears only on the box of the pedal and not on the pedal itself. How will people know if they are getting their fox of lead or unleaded?!? Does anyone know if the label on the pedal is different?
If it has the Trash Can sticker on the back of the pedal where the adapter plugs in you should be OK. The new Lead Free ones have the Trash Can picture on the actual bottom label now.
i wonder if the likes of nasa and the all national armies and governments will abide by this....?i think someone posted that the miltary have already declared themselves exempt.......there was an article on the radio here and it was about mobile phones, the nuts and bolts of it was that the phone companies don't bother making them as robust as before because joe public changes them so much.... the throwaway culture...!! i have a pedalboard of boss pedals and old marshall, selmer and musicman amps and everytime i think of changing them i lose interest in the new stuff because of the amount of posts on the net about problems and people having to upgrade speakers, valves etc to a decent standard..once again its the little guys and gals who suffer.....we have a charge now in the eu on new electricial items to fund the cost of disposing of the old one..its up to the makers of these items which have to use this lead free solder to come up with a solution to the problem and not just give an item a lifespan to get it out of warranty and then wash their hands of it....
