I just acquired a mint condition PW-2. No box or manual, but the unit is so clean and shiny I don't think it was ever used, except maybe to test it out.

Only had an hour or so to play around with it, but it strikes me as a DS-1 on roids, or a grittier Russian Muff (which is quite smooth compared even to the DS-1). It took the place of a MIJ HM-2, which was a little too close to the Muff and DS-1 in my opinion, for my sound.

My first Silverscrew, just got this bad boy in the post. Gave it a quick test in the loop of my DSL sounds great. It serial number indicates it's from Sept 1980.

A MIJ DS-1 came today to replace my MIT DS-1. Made in August 1984. Before testing them side by side I made a couple of pics of the two together. Enjoy.

Cool! Be interesting to hear your experience with the differences.

Scored this for $40... Needed a good clean and a battery clip, but otherwise excellent! Serial 0200.

Mate, Europe really isn't the place for bargain guitar gear. Hell, I never even saw a long-dash CE-2 for sale in the Czech Republic, not to mention the incredible price.
I'm envious Laurie.

Oh yeah, as to the differences, when I first plugged the MIJ in I was like 'so what?', but in a side-by-side comparison the MIJ proved to be more concrete, less grainy and really solid with zero gain settings, which is my favourite. With more gain the sound is still a bit more solid, not really as muddy as the MIT, and with full gain the MIJ seems to have more harmonics and a more natural sounding feedback.
The MIJ one is definitely a keeper, although not having the chance to compare side by side, I perhaps wouldn't be as much sensitive of the difference.
