There was never a CE-4 but you'll have to add the DC-3. You might also want to add the CE-20 to get the complete Chorus pedal list. Of the lot I guess my favorite will have to be the CE-2. |

im gonna have to be the black sheep here and say CE-3 or maybe even CH-1. to me the perfect chorus MUST be stereo and thats the major CE-2 downfall. putting that aside and looking at it soundwise, i say they are all very similar; some practically identical. thats one thing Boss has been good at and thats making great sounding chorus pedals. |

| I'm going to have to agree with stratosphere, I love my Ce-2 but at the end of the day the stereo chorus on my ME-50 has the edge when it comes to the lovely chorus shimmer. If you only have one channel to play with though, the ce-2...but then i've never tried a ce-1. |

Thanks for the responses so far - keep 'em coming!
I currently have lines out for a CE-3 (almost certain), a CH-1, and a CE-5 - more I find 'em! |

| So my CE-5 can't sound as lush as the older Boss Chorus pedals? I mean, how does the CE-5 compare to the others? |

Hi guys
Is this discussion only related to Boss Chorus pedals?
Defrag, your question about the CE-5, we should remember, that there are 2 versions, Analog & Digital.
And Strato for stereo... run 2 -- CE-2's
OK my Boss ONLY opinion: The CE-2 for me...
For Non Boss Pedals - it has to be the Arion SCH-1 stereo Chorus pedal, they just got it really right with that pedal.
Be careful when buying Arion's, as the newer SCH-Z is not the same, buy the SCH-Z And you will be disappointed.
But the MIJ SS BF-2, can also do a nice chorus if you set it up correctly.
then again, it will really depend on the song & the sound you're really looking for..
Regards Dr. Bob |

I've always loved my CE-2, but also hanker for stereo so am tempted to grab a CE-3: What are the potential drawbacks? Dr. Bob? |

My main chorus favourite for a long time is DC-3, but for a little darker sound I like to use CE-2. I like all Boss models, no one are bad in any way. They have a different sound for sure, but I like all of them for what thet are and do. For a long time I didnt like CH-1, but when I gave it a real chance I thought it sounded very good. In this case I found out that the reason for not liking it probably was because I didnt like the colour (paint) of CH-1. So there is some magic in colours

Hi Leeroyfunk
Most obvious will be the cost of having 2 amplifiers. Not to mention lugging them around. (this can me a real bitch, if they are Tube amps, & you don't have roadies). And the extra cables for the stereo setup. Keep the 2 amps at least 6 feet apart, to get the best possible stereo image.
Make sure you download or get the manual for the CE-3, it's a very nice chorus. But in one of the modes, it can sound very thin.

Hi Guys
I hope it's not too far off topic, but has anyone compared the Analog CE-5 with the Digital CE-5?

Thanks again to everyone who's replied - I'm dealing on a CE-2 now , too - learning a lot!
Dr. Bob - please go over to the non-Boss forum and check out my post there about the applause super chorus. I read your post in the eBay section and you may be the only other person I know who has even noticed one!(well, except for that other guy who still has one!) |
