There seems to be three different 'revisions' of the TW-1:
There's the 'Touch Wah' Logo version and then the two 'T-Wah' models.
One with the thicker logo with the 'T' under the 'a' of 'Wah' and then there's the version with the 'T' under the 'W' of 'Wah'.

I just wondered about the chronology of these. As I understand it and from what I can gather from the Boss book, the 'Touch Wah' was the original version, then the 'T under W' version followed by the 'T under a'.

However I read something on another site that said the 'T under W' model was first, then Boss changed it to the 'Touch Wah' and then the 'T under a' model was after this.

Can anyone shed any light on this? I have a Silver screw 'T under W' model but don't have the other revisions yet to check serial numbers etc.

Many thanks and cheers!

The TW-1 page will be updated with the next site update. You can see the text for the updated page below. The A, B and C versions does not reflect when the text on the pedal changed. That's a separate research project and I haven't been able to pinpoint those serial numbers yet.

TW-1 T-Wah
The T stands for "Touch" and the early TW-1's actually had the text Touch Wah written on them instead of T Wah. The TW-1 was replaced by the AW-2 in 1991. Together with the CS-1, the TW-1 is the only pedal to have a toggle switch. With only 2 controls, the TW-1 is very easy to control. The later autowah pedals have the added versatility of modulation but for the basic wah sound the TW-1 does the job without forcing the user to read the manual.

Version Differences
The earliest TW-1s was labelled Touch Wah instead of T Wah
There were both silver screw and black screw versions made
The T in TW-1 was first placed under the W in T Wah but later moved under the a.
