i'm redesigning my stereo speakers and thinking about buying a new midrange driver and building a new crossover. i can get buy doing most things myself, but i honestly find crossovers a little overwhelming. is anyone here able to give me a few pointers?
components for one speaker: 2 x 8ohm woofers 1 x 6ohm soft dome midrange (thinking of replacing with 8ohm cone as its a bit gnarly) 1 x 8ohm silk dome tweeter
Probably not much use to you but we had some problems with the P.A. recently..(we split the tops and bottoms with a crossover)turned out the frequency card in the crossover wasn't letting enough of the top end through and was causing all sorts of problems with the desk as the split frequencys to the top end have to be routed back through to be amplified(power amp to the bottoms, powered desk to the tops)..when you say 'building a new crossover' i'm not exactly sure what you mean....? if you mean the actual unit trust me the frequency card you use is very important.....
