| Well i sold my BF-2 to a mate, and i would probably let my AW-2 go (i have two TW-1s) and my AC-2 could go too. The rest i'm keeping, hands off. |

Well, I did sell off some pedals recently, mostly because either I never used 'em or they were doubles and I'm not really such a collector as some of you. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy looking at pictures of huge amounts of pedals stacked up, or that pic with all the pedals in a circle in the grass was very cool too. But for me, I don't need as big a collection.
I do, on the other hand have an old Morley power wah boost pedal lying around, I never use it, mainly because it doesn't work OK but I'll never part with it, cause it's quite a unique piece of work. |

I'm not a collector, I actually use my pedals. Why keep pedals in a box never to be used.
So, I just buy stuff and try it. If I don't get on with it, or can't find a regular use for it, then it gets sold on.

My collecting habit started when I realised I could buy "tired" or broken pedals for between $20-$40. I think it's related to having no money when I was a kid so we'd buy something basically good that "needed a bit of work".
My happiness comes from buying something cheap with a broken pot, missing knob, burned out protection diode etc and fixing it. Playing that first chord through something I've fixed is a great feeling!
I wish I could afford to be a "true" collector - only buying mint condition pedals preferably with boxes, but my play money doesn't stretch that far. More economic sense for me to buy an old broken CE-5, DF-2, PW-2, and HM-3 which all together cost as much as a single pristine MIJ pedal with box.
If I was a better guitarist I'm sure I'd be focussed on the playing rather than the pedals

| I've been thinking about selling some gear lately that I don't use, but I'm always torn between selling off the pedals I don't use and the pedals that are actually worth anything, which is why my bookshelves are becoming pedalshelves at this rate....I guess I'd rather have a pedal I bought for cheap that I might one day use, than make a small profit on something that I may well end up wanting again 6 months down the line. At the end of the day it always boils down to DM-2, CE-2, SD-1 and crybaby. Everything else just amounts to frills, but I can't bring myself to part with them. |

Sold or traded: DD-2 (currently on my second one which isn't going anywhere), DD20, BD-2 (replaced by an Indyguitarist modded version), OD-3, CS-3, BF-2, TW-1, OC-3 and a PH-1r. I don't collect pedals just for the sake of collecting- if they don't suit me musically or mesh w/ my rig, off they go. That said, here are the keepers: DD-2, DD-7, long dash ss CE-2, Indymodded BD-2, PH-2. I'd love to nab a PS-3, but prices are really getting out of hand lately

I've bought and sold many Boss pedals over the years, and have only ever kept the ones that stand out as having a great sound. I have usually "overlapped" pedals, e.g. I got a TW-1 but wasn't impressed with its sound or flexibility, so I tracked down an FT-2: Side-by-side, there was no contest, the FT-2 won easily, so I sold the TW-1 (for a nice profit ). Same with my SD-1 - I wasn't at all keen on the low-end roll-off, grabbed an OD-3 for cheap, and found it to be far superior, so out went the SD-1. I later got a BD-2 that sounds great, but it's quite different to the OD-3 so I've kept both.
One of the great things about Boss pedals is that they hold their S/H value nicely, so you can usually buy a pedal on a whim, safe in the knowledge that if it's not totally to your taste, you can easily sell it on without losing too much cash. |

Don't take this the wrong way, but are you on crack? |

Haha, no - I just didn't get along with the TW-1. I found the input sensitivity to be very fussy, i.e. If you set the sens to trigger nicely with chords, it doesn't respond to single note lines, and if you set it to sound good on a lead part, when you switch to chords they max out the trigger level and everything is super-trebly. Plus, the "down" mode seemed to have very little effect: Contrast this with the FT-2, where the sensitivity is easily set and copes with chords OR single notes without needing adjustment, it has a Q control that effectively acts as a depth control allowing subtle- or madness-level wah action, a down mode that actually does something and an expression pedal input that turns it into a very powerful pedal wah, there's no contest. |

I've heard mixed reviews to the TW1, some say it has no bottom end. Got a EV10 expression pedal for the FT2 and indeed its a flexible wah pedal, but not as good as a real two transistor/inductor wah. |

Well, ive traded a good few Boss pedfals in the past, ive traded my DS-1, ODB-3, GE-7 and my first MT-2.
The thing is ive now re bought the MT-2 as i am gonna be using it on my bass rig for distortions before my Wah for the Cliff Burton (Metallica) thing.
But, i want to get a good selection of the best sounding Boss pedals i can, as ive found that most of the ones ive got now are complete gems, superb sounding, with some awsome features. The only ones im not too shure about are the DD-6 and my CH-1, i may get the DD-7 or DD-20 twin pedal for delay and get the CE-5, i will probably get the CEB-3 for my bass rig.
I really want to get my hands on a DM-2, DM-3 for a good analogue delay from Boss, i also would like a CS-2 as i dislike the CS-3 for a compressor. The only problem about getting a good analogue delay also is i may get a Ibanez AD9 as ive heard it sounds sonically miles betther than the DM-2 and DM-3.
If i can also get my hands on a new OD-3 as well, as i just for the love of me cannot get my hands on one anywhere here in Glasgow, Scotland.
Altho i want to complete my Boss Phaser family now, i have my PH-1, i want to get a PH-1r, PH-2 and PH-3 for that to come a reality. |

| I don't really buy things without really knowing I need it and without testing it out or possibly borrowing one from a friend to try with my set up. I ALMOST did that with buying a DS-1 and SD-1 BUT I tried out a OD-3 and knew that the sound was exactly what I wanted. Luckly I haven't made a mistake yet, almost but not quite, so no need to sell any Boss pedals so far. |
