I'm looking for a nice OD-1, the earlier the better. Prefer one with box and manual(the collector in me wants this; the player in me just wants the pedal).
Don't really want a dog, hopefully if I find one it'll be in good shape.
I found one on gbase. A dealer has one for sale, looks kinda nice, black label, good condition, however it has no box or manual, just the pedal itself. They want $125. Is this good or a little much?

For those of you more in-the-know than I am on these pedals, how much should I look to pay for one if I find the one I'm looking for?

I've been using a Keeley-modded BD-2 for several years now as my main drive unit. I've read quite a bit of praise on this forum about old OD-1s and I just want to try one out.
As a point of reference, other Boss drive units I've tried over the years: SD-1(back in the early 90s I used one of these on the road...never got on with it, in fact I hope the OD-1 is not simply an SD-1 without a tone control), an OS-2(had it for years, occasionally I plug in to it but it's not quite the Keeley BD-2), a stock BD-2(not enough bottom end for my tastes), an XT-2(had this briefly when they first came out...too "metal" for me)...that's all I can think of. I suppose I'm thinking of going really "old school" with my pedalboard...ie all analog. Not that I dislike the BD-2, hardly the case. I just want to see what all the buzz is about concerning old OD-1s.

Thanks in advance for your opinions and comments, and Merry Christmas to you all.

That's an excellent deal for the condition it is in. I've got and OD-1 in pretty good shape, but not as nice as the one in your picture. I actually kinda like the beat-up look better myself!

Looks nice and minty. If it's not under your tree already, get it.

Well, your majority rule convinced me. I emailed the dealer and told 'em I'd take it off their hands. Should hear back soon.

Thanks for helping me part with my money guys.

Now that I have this pedal on the way I'm kind of on the lookout for an old SD-2 Dual Overdrive, preferrably with a remote pedal included. Anybody have an opinion on this pedal? I was reading the Boss Book last night(again) and noticed this one. Good idea, having one "channel" for a crunchy distorted rhythm as well as a "lead" overdrive channel.

Last time I said "Thanks in advance for your opinions" it cost me money...oh well, here we go again...

I got it yesterday. Very clean, obviously by looking at the picture above.
I actually like the lack of a tone control. Years ago I tried using an SD-1, but never did like it. Used it for years and was never satisfied with my overdrive sound, and back then I was using Fenders and Gibsons. Nowadays I play Gretsches into Victoria amps, and this pedal actually seems to work for me! While I don't see it replacing my Keeley-modded BD-2 on gigs, it's nice to fool around with here at home.

And currently I believe there are 3 SD-2s on ebay that I'm keeping a close eye on.

Cheers

Edit: Dr. Bob, with this post I'm now silver!!

BTW, I keep mentioning the SD-2...is it an all-analog pedal? Inquiring minds wanna know!

Thanks
