I tend to migrate regularly to a handful of forums (not all music related).

This is one of me regulars.

Well I don't know about "Just Great" but this forum is better than the Lawrence Welk show by a long shot

Although there's not enough conflict and drama, I've picked up enough electronics jargon to scare off many eligible bachlorettes.

And the people are nice, educated, musically talented and all that, but they don't buy enough firewood compared to the group over on firewoodfreak.org.

Thank God there's not more conflict and drama around here, I've seen forums were members literally call each other names and discuss all night long, usually making a very small misunderstanding into a giant war.
That could go on for pages at a time, usually to be locked by a moderator who checked his forum the next morning (What the f@#k?!!) finding all that before he even had coffee.

I like the laidback way things are going on over here, there's a lot of mutual respect and a lot of helping each other with broken pedals, telling stories, showing off pedal collections, sharing gear related issues with each other, etc.
Just like it's supposed to be.

I've never regretted the day I joined this forum

Dirk --

I was just kidding... I too, like my music-related internet board sans drama.

This is a fine oasis of great folks, and I hope it always stay that way.

What makes this forum work?
+ I have not seen any flaming or personal attacks in 4 years.
+ people have no doubt differing tastes in music yet there's no slamming against someone dissing music they themselves don't like
+ most questions get answered pretty quickly and get high quality answers
+ there is a very wide representation of experience and most everyone is treated with mutual respect

+ there are no wankers!

one big difference between this forum and, say, harmony-central's forums, is the absence of political threads. bossarea got that one right from the start, and I am glad that Phil O'Keefe likewise banned them in HC's Effects forum, at least.

Very difficult not to check what's going on regularly.

I've not been aware of this forum for more then 24 hours so far and I'm astonished at how much information about Boss pedals there is here. Plus I never knew that there were people who collected Boss pedals. Now I know. And from that listing of all the Boss pedals in that other thread, it could be a pretty expensive hobby if you wanted to get them all for your collection.
