let' talk about bass strings.
I use D'Addario Chromes (flat) 45-100 for years. Really excellent. |

| Ernie Ball Steel Round Wound 45-100. I really like the voice of the harmonics the strings have. |

| I use to only change a single string when it broke, but it sounds so different compared to the old strings. Now I change all my strings so often they don't even have a chance to break. Which is hard for bassists because bass strings are expensive compared to regular guitar strings. |

Mainly Rotosound, but at some point they changed the gauge of one string. Forgotten which one it was. Heh I leave bassstrings on the bass and do not change them for years. Yes I know, some of you may like 'em bright.
There is a type of Fender ones I use as well, forgotten which ones, again, it has been a while. I had to order some to get them into the shop, and I still may have some. They have a tappering on them and sound brigther than than the Roto's, feel is different as well.
Flatwounds will not give you much ring, more beef but less ring. At some stage used them for guitar, but this was at a stage I did not know much about what and how, but I did notice they give you less clang. People may like less clang for bass, but I like them to ring.
Oh well, anyone does have different tastes eh? At the end it is only about the music really!! |
