I bought a PRS to get the hum-bucker sound (much better for my hands). The LP is in storage - I'll sell it in Australia when I move back in a few years (would have sold it already if not for the fact I can get a lot more for it in Oz).

Anyway, I had dreamed of an LP for years... and it didn't work out <sigh>.

All Guitars are different, and there are a lot of different Les Pauls around, and none will feel the same.

I you do get a change try different ones, new ones, old ones [overal guitars of the 60s, 70s, 80s all have their own feel, regardless of their brand!!]
The set-up, action, stringgauge etc. etc. all will make a great impact on the tone and feel of the actual guitar.

Why do I mention all of this? Because I have similar experiences, and it reaches far and far beyound: Did get a LP custom in 1989, liked it, but could not compare it to anything else. Did use the GE7 to get Strat sounds! I liked the sound of the guitar, but wanted that spank.

Three years later, a JS Ibanez came, and I really liked that one, played it more than the LP, felt the LP was heavey and the tone not very diverse.

Three years later another guitar came, now I even played the JS less and less.
Then something struck me, and I really started to get into the Blues, and back came the LP, by that time it did have had a few fret dresses, and a few set-ups. I started to get better and really felt this guitar was great, but could not see it in the beginning.

NOw I have pupils who have a LP, but they use different stings, do not have a great set-up, and as a result they prefer my LP.

Overal I feel what I often say here: Get stuck in, learn, play and you will start to see what it is about. It took me about 7 years before I really dug that LP.

Same goes for other guitars really. I do not believe in there being bad guitars on this planet, but I do believe in people wanting the wrong things from their instruments, and not really understanding what their acutal guitar is about.
Forget your set-up, the trick is about tone, any guitar will tell you its tone, just strum it umapplified and you will hear how resonant it is. With a great set-up the playability will only improve, the tone of the woods can not be altered.

Do I have any guitars which I regret buying? NO!! They all give me different things at different times, and I love 'em for it.

Hello from the bed.

My first electric guitar (1980 and still have it) Westone Les Paul Studio Model, no way to get it in tune, the fingerboard too small, two humbuckers "ACME", but I had love it like not so many other things in my life, you mean: it was my first electric guitar!!! Which too emulate Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley, Eddie Van Halen, Tony Iommi, Angus Young in front of the mirror... ok... be quite... dry sweat and go to find an amplifier! Oh how beautiful youthness was...
