gday chaps!
so im waiting for my boss ge10 graphic equalizer to arrive, hopefully tomorrow. im a bit of a van halen nut, he used one, plus its boss of course!
i am now thinking of where to put it in the effects chain. where do you guys run your eq's? atm my chain is:
guitar -> roland dc50 (echo/chorus) -> bf2 -> ph1r -> various distortion/overdrive pedals -> amp.
any input would be great, but i do realise that its probably best to move it around and find the best position. either way im really excited that im finally getting one. |

hey timbo. congrats on the purchase. ive never tried a GE-10 before
as for placement, its most effective to put after distortion, although some people like the sound of it before. its really preference. i put my EQ after distortion, but before mod and time effects. this way it shaped my distortion but leaves my modulation more natural. try it out and see what works! |

omg omg omg! it just arrived! incredible after more than 20 years how stiff the sliders are. this thing is rock solid, and makes no noise!! and it still has plastic on the back plates.
the one i bought has a broken switch tip, but seeing that it has a remote output it doesn't really matter. plus i think ill be leaving it on the whole time.
anyways, i must now go and unscrew the back and look at whats inside. c'mon, how can i resist! |

ok heres some pics. its not mint but i did buy it with the intention of using it. im going to try and replace the top switch, only thing is finding the same one! when i opened it up it looks as if its been soldered so that its always on, i dont have a footswitch to test this out though. ill have to take the slider knobs, screws etc off to see the top, but too lazy to do it right now. enjoy!

also, the input jacks on this are the same in my dc50. does anyone know whether you can buy spares from roland? my dc50 has one missing and one broken...

Hi Timbo
Great Pics. Thanks
As for the input jacks, try (Here In Oz) Jaycar Electronics. Disk Smith Altronics. WES components in Syd.
They look like the sockets used on the headphone sockets of a lot of stereo amplifiers that I used to repair. The one I am thinking of have extra contacts, for a pair of switches to disconnect the speakers.
Send me some detailed pics.
As for the switch, can you send me some detailed pics of that as well I have a small collection of vintage stuff in the workshop. If I have one, I'll be willing to mail it to you.
Is it a slider type switch. It was hard to tell from the pics you have uploaded. Your welcome to PM them to me.
Regards Dr. Bob |

thats the one, big, black rectangular thing. i have checked out jaycar and cliff electronics, but neither had anything similar. as for the switch, im pretty sure its the slider type. ill try and get some photos up here.
i thought i might also add that when i put my bf2 in the mix i was blown away at how much better it sounds with the eq in front of it! |

Hi Timbo
I'll do a search through my catalogs when I get back to the coal face, I have Tue off, as it's Melb. Cup day. The race that stops the nation (horse race).
Give me some dimensions with that slider switch. I just noticed that the sockets seem to be the mono ones. You can wire up the stereo ones as mono, they look identical.
Sounds like your having a -load of fun, experimenting, with your new & old toys, ah....sorry equipment.
What are you betting on for the cup? Are you also having the obligatory BBQ & -up?
Regards Dr. Bob
