Advantages/Disadvnatages? Stereo pedals would be mainly used for panning effects right? i've never actually played anything through a Stereo effect/effects. Nor do i have the knowlege to know wether or not Stereo effects are worth me spending the extra cash on. so please enlighten me folks, would love to hear your thoughts! |

Yeah... my experience with stereo pedals led me to this basement rig: http://www.bossarea.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=7955
It never leaves the basement and the number of amps is more about me learning to fix old tube amps than it is about me trying to be rock star |

Here is my stereo basement rig:

The CE-5 into the RV-5 gives some spaciousness to the sound. I tried reversing the CE-5 and DD-7, but I didn't like the ping ponging effect. The controls on the CE-5 are set pretty low, just enough to add some very light chorusing. I'm not going for the '80s type.
I have a couple of other Boss pedal boards with other dirt pedals: a "teh brootalz" board with an HM-2, HM-3, and an ML-2 for metal sounds; an OD board with an SD-1, OD-2, and an OS-2 for medium grit sounds; and a board with a CS-3 and two BD-2 pedals. One BD-2 is set as a clean boost, the other as an OD. The BD-2 used for OD is going to be replaced by an OD-3 once I clean the switch.

Nothing special here, just two totally stock Valve Junior amps. The cabs are copies of ported Boogie cabs. The speakers are old, well broken in Celestion G12M-70s, which everybody seems to hate but me

Boss stereo pedals and two guitaramps are really holy! Sounds very great. I'm use a Marshall DSL (for the gains) with a JCM800 1960 cab and a Maquis head (plexi replica)with a Marshall 2x12" cab. This, together with a Boss DD-6, PN-2 and a CE-5. Those Boss pedals going in to the FX loop from my DSL and output 2 go's to the Maquis head. Sounds really powerfull and sweet |

so not stompboxes need to be treated with stereo cables, just the specialized stereo effects right? |

I use this rig(not the selmer amp in the middle but a musicman combo instead) after the pedalboard for stereo delays, reverb and a stereo leslie rotating speaker effect...not a true wet/dry/wet as i have some modulation and delay pedals still on my board before the amp but still great all the same....i used to use a boss CH-1 at the end of my board into two amps and that sounded great as well....
P.S. heres a pic of the musicman...HD-130 2 X 12....and my pedalboard since the pedalboard pic i swapped the CH-1 for a CE-2 and added a BF-2 to the top row....the rack now splits my signal into stereo......

In stereo stompboxes there are two outputs so you use two mono cables into two different amps to get the stereo effect. |
