I'm not the seller and it's not exactly a mind blowing price (though compare it to what they want for some of the other stuff - eg $150 HM-2, WTF?? - it's pretty good) but I stumbled upon this tonight from a local shop and know they're pretty darn rare, so thought I'd post it for anyone who may be looking for one.

Holy cow, Batman!
They do have some high prices on there - especially for some of the "vintage" effects. |

Yep. They have no clue. They'd only sell that stuff to luddites who have no idea about the value of gear online. It's too bad none of my travels ever take me remotely near Sandringham; I'd stop by and see if I could barter them down to $90 or less. Or buy a cheap MIJ something off ebay and try and trade. I suppose I could call them and do it over the phone, but even if they obliged there's probably no real profit to be made off a $90 GE-6, and it's a hell of a way out the way for me. |

Hi RRV-10 & Stratman Yeah, I saw that one last week, nice pedal, but I did cringe a bit, when I was the $price.

if they knocked 10 USD off, i think it would sell easier. its in amazing shape too for a 79, and theres something about GE-6s that just cant be found in any other EQ. plus, believe it or not, GE-6s are pretty hard to find. theres usually none on ebay
but 96 USD is kinda harsh not to mention shipping. |

There was actually a GE-6 on OZ ebay a few weeks ago, in ok shape, not better than this one, only it didn't have a thumbscrew. Not sure what it went for and it's too long ago for a complete items search. I've seen a few over the years and they've never gone fore much more than AUD$100 (US$76)
Isn't the GE-6 really noisy? |

the GE-6 has a bad reputation for being noisy and breaking up in the higher settings. and it DOES do this! but so does the GE-7 and every other EQ for that matter if you crank it.
i think its because theres no master volume slider on the GE-6 and people use it like they would a GE-7. for instance, they crank the bass and treble but keep the master volume slider on 1/2 on the GE-7. so the bass and treble are cranked, but you are only getting half the output.
now if you try cranking the bass and treble on the GE-6, chances are it will be noisy. but thats just because the output volume is full force. you have to be much more careful with it, but trust me, it sounds worlds better than a GE-7.
*sigh* its too bad when good pedals names are tarnished with false rumors. and most of the time its by people that dont understand how to use the effect or dont put the required time in to learn the effects capabilities. MT-2, CS-3, PS-5, XT-2!!!! |

Hmmmm.... I'm writing a paper at the moment but if it's still there in early march I may trek down there to try it out, based on your glowing recommendation .

good idea. i think you will be pleased. im using 2 of them currently in my chain(s)
my lead chain has mostly ODs and i use it with GE-6 set relatively flat but mids upped a bit and it does this well. it gives it the slight boost necessary for soloing and cuts through like it should
my metal rhythym chain has the hard hitters (MT-2, PW-2, FZ-2 etc) and i use a GE-6 at the end of this chain for the scooped sound. i set it for lots of bass and treble but the mids are left flat.
ive tried GE-7s in the place of the GE-6s in both of these positions but it failed to replicate the sound of the GE-6. like i stated before, the GE-6s just seems to leave your tone alone, whereas the GE-7 seems to dampen it. |

Update: So I send them an email asking if the pedal was still available and whether there was some leeway in price if I paid in person with cash (as there always is with used stuff), and rather than give me a discount he actually increases the price from $125 to $150. At first I thought he must of thought I was asking about the GE-7, but I don't think so because he said they don't make them anymore, and he'd know the GE-7 was still being made. Poor form. |
