Does anybody know of any mods that can be done to this excellent pedal?
Make it even better?

Hi Goran! Haven't seen any (and I've been keeping an eye out).

I do know it uses SMD components which makes it a pain to mod...

Hi Goran & Guys

Please be aware that "most" of the Bad Monkey, is a SMD-SMT surface mount components PCB.

You can change C5 to a higher value for less mids resulting in a more transparent tone. Stock value is .047uf, try a .1 first.

I haven't tried this though. I had a bad monkey and I hated it. There was no crispness or clarity. It wasn't transparent at all. I love mids, but I just found this pedal to mask any tone I had, and tube screamer clones (along with tube screamers) have lots of mids. No definition to any notes. Tried it twice, but flipped it twice.

I've been asked by a muso mate to do a mod on his friend's Bad Monkey - increase the output and make it "cut" more. Any comments from someone who has actual hands-on experience would be gratefully received...

I changed C5 to 0.1 uF and C11 to 1 uF, lots of bass.. too much, so I got back to the original value on C11.
The pedal, with C5 changed, is more transparent and I like the tone of it better. Recomended!

Update: Also changed C46 from 0.047 uF to 0.033 uF yesterday and this makes the pedal really shine. Now its one of the best overdrives I ever heard.
Without the change of C46 there was a bit of treble missing.

Ive searched the net for a schematic with no success, but Ive read that many others are looking for it but that it dont excist outside Digitech. Its a hard one to draw by looking at the pcb...

Hey guys I am new to this but i just wanted to let everyone know what idid with the bad monkey. Frist I changed C5 to .1uf like recomended, then what I did different was C11 I Put in a .1uf in addition to that I put the original, capacitor in paralell with the new one. What it did was give me really fat useable tone. I thought that this mod was quite amazing and makes the bad monkey a very usable pedal. Hopefully someone else tries this and lets me know what they think.
