Depends on your definition of 'band'
But actually on our good days we sort of sound like the Allman Brothers if they grew up listening to Black Sabbath... |

haha ive almost wet myself at work reading this thread! classic!
on the topic of active pickups, this one time, i traded my 3 single coil bright orange charvel for a black one with two seymour duncan live wire pups. it upsets me now just thinking about how stupid i was. active picks suck! they are sitting at home somewhere collecting dust whilst my orange charvel is rocking out somewhere. they were so bad, the bridge one was distorion all the time, the damn thing took two 9 volt batteries!

I just happen to play a Rickenbacker with the EMG Zakk Wylde set through a Roland Jazz Chorus! Does that make me a douchebag?
Shrill sounding . . . not really. I use my Dimebag wah to roll off some of the highs. My Eric Johnson Jazz III signature picks do wonders for my tone too.

Nope, you're still alright. I was just weirded out by it because he was just trying to get that Zakk Wylde on Ozzy record sound, but we don't sound like that. Imagine if Black Sabbath had someone sitting in who just used way too much delay and chorus combined with the dark Tony Iommi sound...Thats what it sounded like, just didn't mix well... |
