I have a ton of effects that have the option of using an expression pedal with them. What are some good, all-around expression pedals that will work with a variety of manufacturers' pedals? For example, I know some pedals use different pot values than others, which (I suspect) could leave me high and dry depending on the pedal I try to use it with.
Ideally I'd like to have an expression pedal that is as versatile as possible with the ability to alter the value of the signal so it will work with any pedal with an EXP input.
I do have an old wah enclosure that I've used as an EXP pedal; however, switching out the pot each time I use it with a pedal that requires a different value gets really, really old and time consuming. |

I have the same question...
If was going to buy (say) 10 expression pedals, what is the most cost effective expression pedal that will work with the most pedals.
Emphasis on cost effective... |

I just purchased a Diamond Memory Lane 2(should be in Thursday )so I'll be needing at least 1 exp pedal. It has 2 jacks, one for delay time and one for feedback. It says in the manual to get 100k pot linear taper, so not sure if a volume pedal will work. I'll let you know what I end up with. |

I own one Roland EV-5, which as you might imagine works brilliantly for Boss pedals. I also own three Moog EP-2s, which also work great with Boss pedals, Eventide and of course Moog.
I think the EP-2 is a better build than the EV-5, But it is also bigger and heavier (but interestingly enough, cheaper).
I also have a Boss FV-500L and have previously owned a FV-50L, both of which are supposedly good expression pedals (you need a TRS-TRS cable for that though). I haven't tried it yet, maybe over Easter...

If you install a high resistance pot in the wah case then you can place various resistors in parallel to it. so one resistor from left to middle and one from middle to right. you could attach those various resistors to a rotary pot and you'd have a expression pedal with varying resistance. with those different resistances at the twist of a knob!

I like the old Boss EV-10 http://bossarea.com/other/ev10.asp But I don't use it much for my FT2 having three vintage wahs on hand.
You could try and convert your wah exp pedal if you could find a stacked pot with both values and a long shaft for the gear system. Might be hard to find, but if you could, you could have dual exp pedal that can control two as once, one for each jack.
...think the coffee kicked in... |

I also fell for that 505 II one almost a decade ago. Not gig-worthy, but I ended changing the presets for my own strange/beautiful sounds, which I long to get using my stompboxes today. |

I ended up getting an EV-5. It works great on my Diamond ML-2, and I may get another. Things not to crazy about: It's plastic, has a hardwired cable, and was quite pricey at $90US. But it makes the delay so much more versatile!!! |
