| I have had a lot better luck finding pedals on craigslist than ebay only you have to live in an area where it has caught on, because most of the sellers are loath to ship.I check this most days and do a pawn shop tour nearly every week and usually can get a pedal for less than ebay shipping charges.Of course as ones collection grows the pickings get slimmer as you start to aquire the common ones.Every pawn shop in canada has a metal zone. |

oh, those weekly pawn shop tours... I miss getting to do that. most of my early pedals, before I 'discovered' eBay, were in fact pawn shop specials... the best was probably my $40 DD-3.
craigslist can be great, especially on items you wouldn't want shipped anyway. last year, when I was looking for a decent set of drums, my wife found a nice made-in-UK Premier kit for $500 on craigslist for me, and those drums have lived in our basement ever since.... |

anyone know where some pawn shops are in toronto? i saw one a couple years ago, but i have no idea where it is.
I use craigslist a lot more than ebay. I set up a rss feed of craislist search for boss, so every couple of hours i just check it, and it shows me all the new listings with the word boss in it. There are a lot that i dont like, but i get to act fast on good deals and usually get them. I tried the same for ebay, but theres so many of those LYT pedalboards, adaptors, patch cords, etc, that i dont want to sort through it, so i dont really check ebay anymore. I just moved into a new house and bought 2 cars recently though, so i dont have the cash for pedals right now anyway |

| I've never been as far east as TO but as a rule pawnshops are in the rougher areas of town. There must be some kind of slummy area in a city the size of Toronto. Maybe the famous Young street? |

ya i hear Young Street has good pawn shops not to mention the strip of record stores!! one thing i find about Pawn shops is the big huge deals with neon lights, dings and whistles NEVER have anything good, and if they do, they have like a MIT DS-1 for 75 bucks.
its "Pete's Super Trade Shop" that has your DM-2 with no price on it hidden under magazines. then you ask the 17 year old clerk working there.
"uh i dont know its kinda old. 30 bucks!! |

| I used to live in Toronto and never found any good deals in the pawn shops there. You are lucky to find anything decent and everything is way overpriced. Songbird Music on Queen St always has a great selection of new and used pedals. They post their inventory on line so you know in advance what is there and the price. Their prices may be a little on the high side, but I never really liked wasting every Saturday afternoon doing a tour of pawn shops. |

Yonge St is the main street through Toronto. It is a high traffic area and the rent for shops there must be high. I would not expect to find any great deals there. I don't even think there are really a lot of pawn shops on Yonge unless you go far north out of town. From Yonge you can walk west down Queen St. Queen has a few pawn shops. Eventually you will get to Songbird Music and realize you have been wasting your time looking at pawn shop junk. |
