Guys, i just saw a mint cond. MH-3 Hyper Metal today in my lil local used music store !
No time to test today
Is there any fans of this unit ? I have never heard one, nor seen one in person until today !

of course its all personal preference, but i would have to say im not a big fan of the HM-3. EVERYONE has ONE distortion that for whatever reason they think is awful and mine is the HM-3. some people say that it sounds like a MT-2 but i find it cant quite get you there. i LOVE the HM-2 (its little brother) because it gets you distortion with big bottom and top and maintains its smoothness. although i still cant figure out why they are grouped together. i consider the HM-3 to be more like the XT-3.
i usually plug the HM-3 in every few months to give it another shot but it always winds up back on the shelf.
wow upon rereading this post i see that it sounds like im really shitting on the HM-3. i find it to be a "sloppy" sounding distortion and even though it doesnt tickle my fancy, some people swear by it. i recommend try before buy because everyone wants different sounds. |

| When I first plugged in a HM-3 I thought it was an EHX Big Muff Copy, but when I readjusted my amp (rolled the master to full) it became much crunchier. It's basically a Marshall stack in a box type. The gain structure was ok and there was plenty of gain range, but my main problem with it was it was too scooped in the mids. Next to a FZ-3 it sounded so hollow. Maybe through a stack it sounds ok but through a 112 Fender...meh. |

Last time I tried it, it was on a marshall 2x 100w valvestate head The sound of the hm-3 was almost the same as the head itself, not bad but I'm no valvestate fan. |

| A quite good pedal, but honestly I don't pick it up too often...I prefer my other distortions... |

Hi Guys Make my Fender 75 valve combo sound like a wall of Marshalls When setup right.
Great, for when I'm looking for THAT sound. But Like Stratosphere, I like the HM-2 a lot better ( Hi Strato ) I even bought a second HM-2 recently.
The HM-3 is THICKer

WOW, that is great new to my ears !!!
Does anybody else think this pedal can give a Big Muff-like fuzz tone ? (i take it the fuzz tone is best when you max the gian, right ?)
I'll be able to test it on Saterday - can not wait now |
