With this recent spamming (I was a recipient too) I wonder if it is worth contemplating doing something like having a "lock" on new members doing PM's until they have 10 posts of more? That might slow the buggers down a bit?

Just contemplating out loud.

Thanks, that's a good idea.

I would have to modify the forum software to implement this feature. I was going to make a similar modification to the buy/sell forums so we didn't actively have to moderate it but haven't gotten round to it yet. The two mods should be quite similar so I might just have a go and see if I can get this done.

Does this have something to do the scam email begging letter I received from a "Ms Rita Kone"

This person reckons they got my email address from from my profile on this site, so I have just checked the members list to find them and sure enough, he or she is a member here, listed as Rita39.

If you Google the full name you will find it's quite famous (or infamous!). I'm guessing they are going through the full Bossarea members list to find someone to leech off.

My email has now been filed in the bin! (I can still hear the mournful violin playing as I read it!)

DAN.

I figured I was not alone when I got her spamming email.

Maybe its time to put one of those "enter the letters you see in this picture" type things to send the PM/email. It seems to stop the automatic scanning/sending of spam.

In response to people saying I was as bad as the spammer who just attacked, some people couldn't see the sarcasm in my posts.

I was spamming the spammer...
