I picked up an RCL-10 Compressor of Ebay today for 27. That's the unit Tonemnster said he didn't like I also won an auction for a Boss micro rack catalogue. I'll scan it in and put it on the page here somewhere when I get it.
I currently own the Boss SE70 / GL100 / RCE10 / ROD 10 / RPS10. I believe most of these units merits are well known ( EVERYONE should own an SE70 for example ) but the RPS10 in my opinion has a great feature that goes unmentioned. Most people will state that it does real time reverse delay with no non-delayed signal blended in ( unless you want it ). With the advent of the DD6 that allows you to do this as well without the non-delayed sound blended in ala the DD5 most people might not see a need for this unit. But folks fail to mention that in addition to reverse delay you also get reverse PITCH SHIFTED delay! Octave up or down with fine tuning and a mix control if you still want some of your original signal in there. And it sounds great sonically, not just effectually. Another, "If you come across one for a reasonable price, say under $100 - tons of fun!"
To clarify on my previous post - the unit reverses a pitch shifted tone UP to an octave up or an octave down with an adjustable fine tuning dial as well. I just didn't want to imply that it ONLY did an octave up or down and not the fine points and intervals inbetween.
My paypal account was offline for almost a month and during this time I decided not to buy anything on Ebay. Loads of these rack units flew by including a RPS-10 for as little as 20. Now that my paypal account works again there's none of these units listed on EBay UK. Arrgh
Well i've just discovered my dad's DE-200 and I have to say its the most fun I ever had, tweaking the modulation makes wierd experimental sounds and you can do cool oscillation with the hold function. You can even make it sound abit analog if you use x2 Mode which doubles the delay time but lowers the frequency and creates a darker delay sound.
The full-size rack units are pretty affordable it seems. I picked up the chorus unit as pictured above about a year ago for a great price. It was missing one knob, which I replaced with one from a dead pedal. The unfortunate thing is that I was so wrapped up in collecting for a while that this is one of the units that I never even actually played through. Now I'm so busy gigging that I don't know when I'll get to rock out with this one.
