hehe.
i meant to post on this thread earlier.
my gf is pretty supportive of most of my hobbies if i take the time to really introduce them to her and try to find ways to make them interesting to her.
since we've been together (~2 years) i've managed to introduce a number of hobbies to her that she took a liking to. she's 41 and had always wanted to play guitar. last summer i got her a strat copy and a lil peavey practice amp but this year i got her a hello kitty strat and a fender champ 110 for her b-day. while she doesn't play all that much, i've found that if i get her to give input on gear that it smooths things over a bit for new purchases.
while a new instrument is probably 50/50 at best with her unless i'm selling another instrument, when i was looking for an amp she ended up talking me into getting another amp after i took her to hear it. i also have her help me with effects pedal shootouts to see which i should keep. lately i picked up a BCB-30 case and got her a DS-1 and BF-2 for it. gonna pick her up a cheap chorus whenever i find one.
i also got her playing video games and now in the bedroom we have side by side 27" TV's with a PS3 hooked up to 1 of them and a PS2 hooked up to the other... so that we can spend "quality time" together even if we're both sitting there playing video games. while my collection is around 550 games, hers is at more like 50 but she doesn't scold me for buying more games nor for getting roped into a game and playing it 7 hours a day for a week or so until i beat it. she's sunk more than 100 hours into a couple of games (final fantasy vii and final fantasy x) and more than 50 hours a couple of times. i just make sure if i come home with a few new games that there's another one for her.
our newest hobby is watching anime together. i was a dabbler in the genre but decided i wanted to watch a series so we went to best buy and i had her look at the backs and read the descriptions to help me pick one. while we ended up going with my gut instinct on a series, she ended up really liking it and we watched 26 episodes in about a day and a half. so we went back and got another series and that one was done in about 2 days. since money's tight i try to find used stuff. it's funny when we'll stop by a used book store or pawn shop and she'll try to talk me into dropping $100 on anime dvd's... which is the complete opposite of what happens to most people.

Well, there has been a recent development in our household... Mrs Laurie has decided to learn guitar and has grabbed the old Vantage I reconditioned last weekend. This will, I believe, eventually lead to more GAS for Laurie

Awesome Laurie, congrats on the convert. Any excuse is a good excuse.
BTW - The Brisbane reference went right over my head... but, if you girls want a BBQ, I'm down. I'll bring THE MEAT.

What do you say Dr. Bob? Should we let him inflict this on himself? |

I'm begining to think this thread has taken a very wrong turn somewhere along the line
I suddenly have a need to listen to "Punky's Whips" by Zappa |

Ok to clarify which burger we are talking about.
In Brisbane, there is a store that sell the worlds HOTTEST hamburger and it's called, you guessed it, The Megadeath Burger.
TKO KEN. PM me & I'll send you the file with the story, related to subject. I'm surprised that T-D didn't remember this on, as I sent him the file about 2 weeks ago.
You will laugh so hard ... you'll break an A string.
And your ref. to "Punky's Whips" by Zappa, was vague for me, I don't have much in the way of Zappa CD's/LP's
Regards Dr. Bob |

Dr. Bob- I'm a huge Zappa fan with about 45 CD's in my collection ( he has around 60 available. )
Punky's Whips is about the guitar player from the '70's glam rock group Angel, funny as hell.
view at your own risk!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSUHGcVda0g

Hi TKO Ken
I don't think I know, any words to describe what I just watched.
Maybe the word is just Zappa |

With an endorsement like that, I had to watch... Words don't actually fail me. But I choose to remain silent |

You are wise, many times beyond your years.
I think this thread really went off topic...

OK - I remember know. I'm a sucker for hot & I bet I could eat the damn thing. My sphincter might not appreciate it, but I bet the rest would be fine. That's right "HOT SPHINCTER".
