Hi everyone. To some it may seem as a stupid question, but I need to ask anyway. My AC adaptor says SOLID so the question is: is 'solid' the same as 'regulated'? English is not my first language, obviously, so I'm not quite sure here. Do I have to look for replacement or can I use it?

Not a stupid question at all... a very good one!

"solid" isn't something I;ve ever seen before. Can you post a pic of the label?

Here comes a pic of the label... sorry for the quality...
As for the adaptor, it is an old piece and I've had it like forever and I know it's nothing special. I might have to buy a new one so the question is not actually a big issue. I'm using it to power a couple of 12V boss pedals daisy-chained with one or two 9V so it works fine on 9 volts. New 12V pedals keep coming so before I find a proper solution I might have to switch it to 12 volts and use it for 12V pedals only and I'm not sure whether it will work in case it's not regulated.
Hope I made myself clear enough. Thanks.

Thanks! It is almost certainly unregulated. i guess "Solid" is the brand?

I would really suggest not using this for Boss pedals that need a PSA style adapter.

Thank you Laurie!
I think I'll send the thing right into garbage. I didn't expect it to be any good but what made me doubt and raise the question was that the term 'unregulated' is translated into Czech with the same word as the opposite of 'solid' which misled me a bit... I should have thought about it better.
Thank you again.

I agree, I think it's the brand name. Look immediately to the left of the word "solid"; it looks like a logo, and the lines to me look like the letter "S".

And I also agree about getting a proper adapter to use with your effects.

The look and feel of it says to me that it probably isn't regulated. The size, shape and mA rating indicate to me that there isn't enough room inside for regulation circuitry.

Of course, I could be wrong, but I am always inclinded to err on the side of safety - an unregulated supply connected to a pedal needing a PSA adapter is risky.

Miky, if you have a good quality meter can you set the supply to 9VDC and measure what voltage comes out?

Hmmm... Hmmmm....

It might just be regulated. 9.8V won't hurt a PSA pedal, that's for sure. Dirk, your comment is a good one. Doesn't pay to assume, eh?

Miky, I think you are OK using this on the 9V setting for PSA pedals.

Off course it is, you're getting minuspoints for ignoring the obvious

No, serious I can see where your suspicions come from, I have one of those old universal thingies lying around, nice for some christmas decorations, but I wouldn't power my pedals with it.
