That's very strange. It does indeed look like he's won the lottery.
But to be honest: I'd buy other gear from lottery's money! |

Ah, but I still ask the question - who is bidding against him to push it up to these ridiculous prices? |

Hey Laurie, if you look up his name on eBay, and his buys. You'll notice he bids early, and it's several different eBayers bidding after him. Also I've dealt with many of the sellers he's buying from. He's just one person who will bid super high because he wants something. What's a bummer about this is other sellers will raise their prices accordingly. I say we all wait it out, and things will return to sanity! |

A similar thing happened on eBay 7 or 8 years ago for a different kind of item (manuscripts from a well known poet). At first you could buy the manuscripts for $100 - $300, and there was a pretty large supply of them.
Then, literally overnight, the prices shot up to the $1500 - $2000 range. What happened was two collectors with very deep pockets arrived at the same time and basically just bid against each other.
It looked fishy at the time, but it was legit. Just two wealthy guys with more money than sense.
The end result was a rise in the manuscript prices. They didn't maintain the $1500 - $2000 level that they reached at their height, but they did settle in around $500, for something that used to be half that.
The interesting thing about that price adjustment is I think it was good. The manuscripts were undervalued at the early prices. So it was a lucky time for those of us who bought low, but now they are closer to where they should be. And they will probably still rise in years to come.
You could probably say the same thing about the vintage BOSS stuff. That maybe it has been too low, and now it will overinflate a bit, then settle down to somewhere between the two.
Who knows. But this looks a lot like the manuscript debacle. |

Seems like he only likes the really clean ones. As a collector, I can understand that. But since I play all my pedals, I've been buying beat, super gigged ones lately. There are still some good deals out there. |
