Simple question really, just wondering how many of them are around.
Seem to remeber from the early days of the forum that there was the thought that there was no such thing as a Jap. DS-2
The interest comes from me having used the pedal more over the recent days.
Can't help feeling that the DS-2 is much stiffer than the DS-1, but our recent discussions lead me to think:
# Does this stiffness comes from me not having used the pedal that much?
# Does it come from it being newer?
Comparing a DS-2 to a DS-1 I feel the DS-1 does almost have a tube-kind-of feel. Okay you may feel here we go again with that nonsense, and I can't help feeling that myself at times, but the DS-1 really feels very loose and organic.
What I like about the DS-2 is the treble boost idea, and the boost in midrange.
Maybe it is the midrange what makes the pedal feel siffer.
Anyway, let us stick to my orginal question, but if you feel like it you can leave some comments on the sonic character of the pedal as well.

i have an MIJ DS-2.
seems like the clipping diodes in mode II are MUCH more harsh/aggressive.
mine is super mega ultra stiff and only sounds good through really high gain tube amps. |

| I also have a an MIJ DS-2. I dont like the sound of it very much in either mode, I think DS-1 sounds way better, MIJ or MIT. |

it's weird with the DS-2.
i like DS-1's since they work with basically any amp as long as you keep the treble below 12 o'clock.
DS-2's i've got a long love-hate relationship with these. a guitarist in one of my high school bands absolutely loved nirvana and vowed to use one... and his tone was poop.
i picked up my MIJ DS-2 about 2 months ago and was going to jettison it... until i got my marshalls back out of storage and i finally found a use for it... sorta fills the gap between the DS-1 and HM-2 with a bit more balls behind it and a lil more chunk than the high gain overdrives (SD-2, OD-2). |

| I have a MIJ DS-2, in rather rough cosmetic condition. its distortion is similarly rough, and is much less 'musical' than my analog-man modded DS-1. |
